Once again, the time had come. On our way through the area we had stopped for an abandoned house. As we walk through the old walls and take our pictures, an elderly man happens to be passing by.

We greet him and so we get a little chat. He tells us that he is pastor of the church opposite and invites us to a cold drink. We are happy, because it was quite warm and actually around noon.

The church was just a few yards from here. When we entered the courtyard with him, a few friendly children and women approached us. Soon they asked us if it's okay to take a picture with Emilia. It's all right with us, first we take pictures of them and as long as our daughter likes it, it's absolutely fine.

Walking around we saw that the church consists of a new part and an old, dilapidated part. Probably the old part is still civil war at that time. This made the picture even more interesting for us.

But what was really admirable that day was that we expected nothing and got a lot. A gift that is much more valuable than something material: the sincere friendliness of people to us, even though they don't know us at all. To be honest, I have to tell you that I have to cut a slice of myself every now and then from time to time.

Wieder einmal war es soweit. Auf unserem Weg durch die Gegend hatten wir für ein verlassenes Haus angehalten. Während wir so durch die alten Mauern streifen und unsere Fotos machen, kommt zufällig ein älterer Mann vorbei.

Wir begrüßen ihn und so kommen wir ein bisschen ins Gespräch. Er erzählt uns, dass er Pfarrer von der Kirche gegenüber ist und lädt uns zu einem kühlen Getränk ein. Wir freuen uns, denn es war ehrlich gesagt ganz schön warm und schon gegen Mittag.

Die Kirche war nur ein paar Meter neben an. Als wir dort mit ihn im Innenhof eingetreten sind, kamen uns schon ein paar freundliche Kinder und Frauen entgegen. Gleich fragten sie uns ob es in Ordnung ist, wenn sie mit Emilia ein Foto machen. Ist uns ganz Recht, erstens machen wir auch Fotos von ihnen und solange unserer Tochter es gefällt ist es absolut in Ordnung.

Beim herumlaufen haben wir gesehen dass die Kirche aus einem neuen teil und einem alten verfallen Teil besteht. Wahrscheinlich ist der alte Teil noch Bürgerkrieg damals. Das machte für uns das Bild noch interressanter.

Aber was wirklich bewundernswert an diesem Tag war, dass wir Nichts erwarteten und sehr viel bekommen haben. Ein Geschenk dass viel mehr Wert ist als etwas Materielles: Die ehrliche Freundlichkeit der Menschen zu uns, obwohl sie uns überhaupt nicht kennen. Da muss ich ehrlich sagen dass ich selbst mir ab und zu eine Scheibe abschneiden muss von ihnen und mich eines Besseren belehren lasse.

Danke für diese Offenheit, es war ein sehr schönes Erlebnis!
