The Giant Clams of Mindanao!

When I visited Camiguin Island during my trip to Northern Mindanao in May, I discovered an unusual underwater sanctuary.

Off the volcanic shores of the island borne of fire can be found hundreds of Giant Clams, in a locally owned and run Giant Clam Sanctuary!

I've never seen anything like it. In fact, I'd never even seen a giant clam before. So seeing hundreds all arrayed below me as snorkelled through the clear water was quite an experience.

If you are ever travelling to Camiguin, don't give this unusual sanctuary a miss!
