Spending the day walking around main Koh Phi Phi

This morning we had to take the long-tail boat back to Tonsai Bay to avoid rushing to get to the boat we are taking to Krabi on Saturday. It's never easy to greet our friends at the Buffalo Head, so we decided to make the going away a quick and less painful experience. We boarded the boat from the Mangrove Forest as the tide was too high to access the boats from the beach. The island experienced quite heavy rain the past few days, so the sea was quite rowdy. Nonetheless, we arrived at Main Phi Phi safely.

I have to admit that I have avoided the main part of the Island for the longest time after an experience I had last year with a 'party island' in Indonesia. My husband and I are no longer clubbing/pulling all-nighters people, which is why we try to book accommodation in quieter areas. When you arrive at the pier you are surrounded by many people. I have been at this pier four times and it is never not busy. I have to give credit to the locals who work on the pier and boats, as their system of organisation is of great standard. It flows (mostly) perfectly.

We are spending tonight at P.P Sand Seaview Resort - a relatively small but very affordable resort about 10 minutes away from Tonsai pier [https://booki.ng/2fnRrkq]. We tried to book accommodation as far away from the clubs and bars as possible, and I have to say I am very glad we did. As I am sitting here, writing this blog, I can hear and feel the deep bass coming from what I imagine is massive speakers. We walked to the supermarket earlier, and the closer you get to the pier, the more people you see.

The aim of this blog is not to badmouth the island or to scare you away from ever visiting. The island is great if you want the proper island experience. There are great restaurants that cater for all tastes. The bars are the same. On the side where we are currently staying there is a Rasta-type beachfront bar going for the chilled-out vide. However, if you want to connect with your inner party animal you should definitely make a point to spend at least one night here. Finally, the island has great Padi dive centers as well as many boat companies doing snorkeling trips to Maya Bay, Koh Pha Ngan, etc. The clothing here is very affordable and general shopping is cheaper than Ba Kao Bay as shop owners do not have to travel as far with their supplies. Alcohol, however, is a bit more expensive because of the area's popularity. You will also find that not all restaurants sell alcohol because of the strict Islamic culture some families follow. The next few blogs will be about our time spent in Krabi Town to which I am looking forward to sharing with you. Thanks again to everyone who has been reading!

Yay pictures! It's good to see the island again. I can't wait to take my wife there, although I expect it will be quite different than when I was there at 21 and crazy...

We are going to Krabi today, so I am very excited to share it with you. I agree with you in that I now see the world completely different than what I did as a student. Luckily most of Thailand caters for both the quiet and the busy. I'm sure
