Houston Travels

I spent this past weekend in Houston, landed at George Bush International airport and took an hour long bus ride into Houston downtown. Houston is a large city - very spread out. I stayed at an airbnb (aren't they great!) in downtown, but I didnt realize that there is not so much to do in downtown so ended up having to Uber out to the Menil Collection and the Houston zoo. Had great weather while there - weather in the higher 40s, which is much better than Boston but the Houstonians were all bundled up.

BTW for all you, art lovers, the Menil collection is a great place to visit. Couldnt take any pictures inside there obviously. But they have some lovely art from the Pacific (Tahiti, Papua New Guinea), Africa, Byzantine art. They also have a whole room on surrealism - which is great if you are have a love of modern art - I find it hard to analyze the unconscious.

The Houston Zoo apparently has over 6000 animals, it was great seeing the large collection some of which included my favorites - the tiger, the warthog and the kookaburra.

Now if only I could find out how to upload pictures on Steemit? I could update this post. :/
