Week 6/52 - Part 1 - 2018 Osaka Castle and Lake Kawaguchiko Ryokan
Hi Steemit World,
This is Week 6 - Part 1: Monday 5th, February to Wednesday 8th, February 2018
I've been MIA for a little while. I hope you haven't missed me. Let's play catch-up again, shall we!? I've split this week up into 2 posts, otherwise this post will be super, overly jam-packed with photos.
This week, my partner and I visited Osaka Castle and the surrounding park. We then took the bullet train to the Fujikawaguchiko Station to stay a night at Konansou in the Fuji Kawaguchiko Onsen resort at the base of Mt Fuji. I can confidently say, that this was one of the highlights of my trip to Japan.
Osaka Castle Forest Park and East Outer Moat
The beautiful Osaka Castle (大阪城, Ōsakajō)
Treats on the Shinkansen on the way to Fujikawaguchiko Station + views of Mt Fuji
Panoramic shots of the semi-frozen Lake Kawaguchiko
It was so cool to see the layer of ice on Lake Kawaguchiko freeze and continually break. You could actually hear it every so often, due to the frequent passing of the ferry crossing the lake. The wash coming from the ferry would send ripples across the surface, continually creating small waves of cracking ice.
Banquet Dinner at Konansou
Private bath with natural onsen with clear views of Mt Fuji
As it was our first time visiting an onsen, we decided to book a private bath. The view was absolutely breath-taking. With the cold winter air coming in from the open window, and the warm steam and water from the natural onsen, it was like a dream.
Mt Fuji watching on the Konansou rooftop / We also tried the outdoor foot baths, but it was super cold outside!
Delicious buffet breakfast; warm corn soup from the train station vending machine; and journalling on the train ride back to Tokyo
When I go back to Japan, I know I'm definitely coming back to this area. I hope you consider it too :) You won't regret it.
This week's journal quote:
"Just keep moving forward and don't give a shit about what anybody thinks. Do what you have to do, for you." - Johnny Depp
I truly hope you enjoyed my latest entry on my Japan adventure. For the second part of this week, I'll be visiting Tokyo Disney Land, Akihabara and indulging in fluffy, fluffy pancakes! Please stay tuned for more!
Till next time,
Jade
