Home away from home: Balay Buhay sa Uma Bee Farm must visit place in Sorsogon, Philippines

in #travel6 years ago

During my Bicol trip, I stayed for a night in Sorsogon before I'd proceeded to its adjacent province Albay as being part of my itinerary. It was already in the afternoon when I reached the Bulusan Volcano Natural Park, so I decided to look for a rest house or an inn within Bulusan Area. And as I roved around, I have found an amazing Farm house. At first I wasn't able to recognize that it was really Balay Buhay sa Uma Bee Farm, the one I have searched in the internet.

As I proceeded, I told to the tricycle driver just to drop me in the said Farm house called Balay Buhay sa Uma Bee Farm. I never know that reservation is necessary prior to visit. Luckily, they let me stay in their farm house. May because they have less visitors that time.

Balay Buhay sa Uma Bee Farm is one of the agri-tourism site in Sorsogon particularly in the town of Bulusan. Its a combination of a resort, bee farm, and restaurant located in the verdent area of Bulusan. It offers a farm living experience and a serene and nature-calming environment.

Among the best features and main activities in the farm are swimming in the natural pool or commonly called in the Philippines as batis, fishing in their mini- fishpond, getting honey from the bees, gardening, hiking, and experiencing their very own native approach of life through the used of herbals, and tasting their especial homemade honey from the bee farm itself.

And here are some exciting glimpse in the bee farm that would really made your visit so unforgettable and would made you convince to go there.

This is the main gate of the bee farm. This serves as a back drop of almost everyone who visits this place because of its farm name being hung above.

Along the way to their pavilion you can see lots of plants and including their famous presentations of bees.

Among the bees I have seen in the entrance if the farm going to their main building.

So basically, no touching of bees. Donnot disturb them if you dont want to be attacked. Hahaha.

After a few steps of walking from the entrance area, finally I have reached their pavilion.

So after checking in, finally have my room. Which was very unique in the sense that it was built by a native nipa hut, exclusive for solo traveler only..
And this was how it looks like.
IMG_2785.JPG
It has a number of nipa huts intended for solo backpacker or guest only.

This was my nipa room. Its code name was pippermint. Always remember you codename, for you not to misled to the other room. Haha. In my case, I accidentally went to the nipa hut's room of my neighbor. So embarrassing that time. Haha

This was how it looks outside of the Nipa Hut or commonly called in Filipino as Kubo.

As you observe the place was indeed being sorrounded by green plants that would really made the place so bucolic.

Tadannnn. And this is how the kubo looks inside. It has actually two beds. May also be intended for 2 persons. The kubo is made of bamboo tree and native wooden furnitures. It was so refreshing since the backyard of the kubo is a natural creek or batis in tagalog.

Inside the hut has a mirror, cabinets, and a e-fan. But since it was so cold at night. Its not anymore advisable to use fans.
Comfort rooms were placed outside the hut. Just a walk away from the rooms.

And this was a complete set being given to you in the bee farm when you check in. A good morning kit.

As I roved around this 3 hectares bee farm, aside from the bees being situated around the farm which they mainly promote, was also a herbal botique which the used as medicine when the residents here got sick.
At the edge of the farm was also a creek or batis having a very cold water naturally flowing from Mt. Bulusan.

They also have resthouse and resting area in the yard.

They also have fishpond. Which was mainly their menu during meal time.

In the morning, breakfast was included in my package. So here was the menu of the day. I never expect that they serves as many as you see.haha. It was unli-coffee there made by the very own farm. Basically, I was not able to eat it all. Haha.

All in all, that trip was really so unforgettable. Aside from the embarrassing moment I never forget, the place is really worth visiting. It would really made you feel like you are in farm.
You guys must go here. 😉
