BORACAY 2017

Quick guide to Boracay for everyone who wants to visit there.

Before everything else, let me introduce to you BORACAY, that was named ‘Best Beach island’ in 2012 by Travel + Leisure magazine.

Boracay Island is part of the municipality of Malay in the province of Aklan. It is located about 315 kilometers south of Manila in the region of Western Visayas. The usual route going to Boracay involves a flight from Manila or Cebu to either Kalibo, which is about two hours away by bus or van from the island (fare is about PHP150 to PHP200.00), or via Caticlan, a barangay in Malay itself where the jetty sailing to Boracay is located. The boat ride from mainland Aklan to Boracay itself takes less than ten minutes. It's known for its resorts and beaches. Along the west coast, White Beach is backed by palm trees, bars and restaurants. On the east coast, strong winds make Bulabog Beach a hub for water sports. Nearby, the observation deck on Mount Luho offers panoramic views over the island. Offshore, coral reefs and shipwrecks are home to diverse marine life.

Firs of all, we booked our airfare with our trusted travel agency, Gem Wings Travel and Tours (you can check their facebook page here >>>

Boracay Island is relatively small, and its road network, narrow and limited. For public transport, there are tricycles roaming around its roadways. Minimum fare is PHP20.00 for non-special trips within the White Beach Stations a. Non-special means the driver can still pick up other passengers. To make sure a driver would only charge you the minimum fare and avoid confusion and confrontation, tell him beforehand that you’re riding non-special. For special trips, where you rent the whole vehicle, fares are set at PHP120.00 for tricycles (up to 6 persons)

Best time to travel Boracay is the high season which is from December to Apirl. Chirstmas is popular - but you may have trouble finding accommodation. May to June is ideal but rather hot. July to November is the low season and therefore the cheapest time to go. October and November have the best sunsets.

You'll never have to worry about accommodations since the island has a lot to offer.
We chose to stay at Blue Dawn hotel, some of their rooms were good for 2 persons only, not beach front but it's just a few steps away from the beach at Station 3.P_20170512_102142.jpg

You’ll never ran out of things to do on the island, all the water sports you can think of, you can enjoy in Boracay. You can go island hopping—which usually includes snorkeling and cliff jumping within the itinerary—or you can go diving, paraw sailing, helmet diving, parasailing. The main draw of the island is still its beaches.

We really wanted to try almost every activity we see, but of course it will cost us a little more that's why we chose two of the most activities being tried by many; PARASAILING and HELMET DIVING which was only P1200 per pax .P_20170512_171626.jpg

If you're on the look where to eat at Boracay, go inside its sidestreets and you can find meals without reaching the hundred-peso mark. If you’re willing to eat in eateries you can even get lower prices. D’Mall and D’Talipapa also house a few cheap eateries, and they’re right by the White Beach too. We bought oysters and clams at D'Talipapa for about P250 at 2 kilos, and have it cooked at the Boodlefight restaurant for P100 per kilo, per dish. You can also order set meals there that doesn't cost that much, and their presentation is absolutely unique.
