Brazil - 2016 Our Experience, Our Adventure: Iguacu Falls; the Argentina Side

in #travel7 years ago

After visiting the Brazil side, we decided to take a day trip to Iguacu Falls; the Argentina Side.

To go to Argentina it was really simple, catching one bus which helped us cross the border and which stops you in a bus stop in the middle of nowhere. You get to know that you are in the right spot because you get invaded by taxis which tell you that there are no buses or the next bus is within an hour. We met with other travellers there and decided to get a taxi together and dividing the cost. When arriving at the falls, the only problem is that you have to pay everything in Pesos. What we tried to do is going to the ATM like all tourists did. Waiting in long lines and for some odd reason the ATM did not allow us to take money. Luckily, after asking a few locals if they were interested in US Dollars, there was a guy who exchanged it for us. The best part was the rate he gave us was the real time daily one without any charges or funny rates. Thanking him for not ruining us our day we finally entered Iguacu Falls.

It differs from the Brazil side as it is more like a park with various walking routes and a number of small falls.

At the top part, we visited a boardwalk which takes you in the top part of the falls called Devil’s Throat. One of the best scenes in the falls and surely one not to be missed!

This is the video in the middle of Devil’s Throat:

Another item on the agenda to do was the speedboat ride which takes you under the rapids making you soaking wet and make sure to take an extra set of clothes.

For the rest of the visit, we just walked around the park, catching a train which takes you to various parts of the park and eating, yes the food was actually not expensive and very good.

The interesting part was going back to Brazil on the same day. We took the same route back with taxi and buses however after exiting the Argentina border, at the Brazil border we were informed that there was no exit stamp on the passport. The same happened to the other two travellers we met on the bus. After many checking and questioning, they finally admitted that this should not have happened given that on the records we never exited the country. They stamped both the exit and entry stamp and we were good to go. At least we did not end up the night stranded between Argentina and Brazil.
