Mitad Del mundo, the middle of the earth or is it?

Not sure how many of you guys heard it before but mitad del mundo, has a monument to the equator, which takes its name from the country and exact location of equator.

I luckily had a chance to visit this monument past back and had wonderful time there. I mean at least in the cool photo wise by stepping on the two hemispheres at the same time.

It’s not the real equator

But the ugly truth is as a tourist believing in it and taken millions of photo there, actually french geographers kinda messed it up and modern gps shows us the real equator 240 meters north of it.

Most ironic thing is that while every tour guides and visitors try to do some magic tric in equator to prove it and by getting surprised, actually real measurements say it’s not possible.

Anyway magic was killed when I learned it but still it’s not gonna stop me sharing my photos.
