Royal Caribbean: State of the Art 'Cruise Of The Future'

Royal Caribbean has taken the luxury cruise industry to the next level and is on the brink of offering some amazing new features to their customers if they don't mind reaching for their checkbooks to cover the bill. Some of the new features / amenities include rooms that open to the night sky, walls that can be described as 'see through' allowing views of the captain on the bridge and voice command functionality giving guests the ability to simply say “goodnight computer” if they want to close the curtains and turn off the lights to their cabin.

If that doesn't impress you, they are introducing driver-less shuttles that take passengers from the ship to the end of the pier and rolling out a brand new onboard application which allows guests to explore and order excursions, open your stateroom door and order a drink.

If you are still not impressed, there's even more as the Royal Caribbean has plans to integrate technologies including virtual reality, facial recognition, artificial intelligence, high-speed internet and RFID technology.

At Royal Caribbean’s Sea Beyond technology showcase on Wednesday night, the cruise line showed off how using non-proprietary, open source technology will improve the guest experience from the minute they download the app until they take their final steps down the gangway.

With all these new bells and whistles could we be looking at the revival of the modern day vacation a high-tech cruise to an exotic location? With so many companies fighting for tourist dollars I don't see how adding a few high-tech features to your offerings could hurt your chances of getting a few more customers...
