Besuch in Bocholt | Visiting Bocholt

am vergangenen Wochenende war ich in Bocholt (oder "Bokelt", wie die Einheimischen sagen; an alle Einheimischen Entschuldigung, falls das so nicht ganz stimmt, so habe ich es zumindest verstanden) und ein bisschen drum herum. Die Stadt liegt nur ein kleines Stückchen von der Grenze zu den Niederlanden entfernt. Es war für mich eine spannende Reise. Die "Nordlichter" gelten bei uns im Süden häufig als ein bisschen introvertiert und verstockt. Aber: so war es gar nicht. Es war eine sehr angenehme Reise und auch die Menschen, die ich kennengelernt habe, empfand ich als sehr freundlich. Insofern möchte ich hier auch ein bisschen mit dem Vorurteil aufräumen. Und es gilt wie immer: wenn man mal die Menschen vor Ort kennengelernt hat, sind viele Vorteile dahin und es bleibt: der Mensch!	last weekend I have been in the german city of Bocholt ("Bokelt" as the people there say) and a little bit outside. The city is only a few metres away from the border to the Netherlands. For me the trip was exciting. "People from the North" are called introverted and obdurate (here in the south of Germany). But: that's not the reality. I was a very pleasant trip and I like the people I have got to know. So I would like to do away with this prejudice. And it is as always: as soon as you get to know the people prejudices are away.
Dies ist ein Blick über den durch Bocholt fließenden Fluss: Aa. Der Hintergrund für den Namen ist mir leider nicht bekannt geworden. Ich bin mir aber sicher, dass dieser Fluss in einer alphabetisch geordneten Übersicht über alle deutschen Flüsse ganz vorne steht. Sollte ich diese Übersicht mal sehen, kann ich auch sagen, dass ich da mal war.	This is a view over the river Aa, flowing through Bocholt. I didn't get the background for this name. But I'm sure if you ever get an alphabetical list of rivers in Germany, this one will be the first.
