8th day of Srilanka's trip! Hilly and herbal day ! ;)
Here we are again. Last night in the city of Kandy was followed by an ascending bus journey towards the hilly city of Ella (about 3 hours long trip) where our accommodation for next two nights is situated. During the journey we made a few stops. We did first one at the road and tasted a fruit so called Durian. It’s considered to be quite healthy with positive effects on our strenght and acts as an aprhrodisiac. But be careful. Its exterior seems very lovely and well-shaped BUT! - when you cut it, smells like a rot. I didn’t even try!😊
Right after continuing driving, the first bushes of teas began to appear all over the area, where we made few stops at the sightseeing points. So, we’ve started entering the region full of tea plantation, with its story dated back to the 18th century, intiated by England colonization. Hills and valleys all around made a journey even more attractable. Soon we reached a Glenloch tea factory in the city of Katahithula, where the representative introduced us about steps of tea production. It is based on three types of teas (white, green and black ) where the white one is supossed to be the healtiest, followed by others considering above mentioned sequence. They also gave us the opportunity to try all three types free of charge. So tasty, delicious and healthy! After degustation we visited the tea shop and had the opportunity to buy some of them.
It was 13:00 p.m. after reaching the city of Nuwara Eliya and time for the lunch. We chose Milano restaurant hoping to eat the food, that is closer to us, however it was not like that, but the food was still delicious and quite cheap. After that we took a short walk through the city from where the highest hill of Srilanka (254O m.) can be seen also. As a point of interesting, the peak of this mountain is in spite of its height still green and covered with hight vegetation, if compare with Slovenian mountains those kinds, where only lower grass and rocks can be found.
At 18:00 we finally reached Ela where have been accomodated in the Ela Gap Hotel for next two nights.
Se yaa and good night !:)
So you tasted fresh Ceylon tea. It's very very tasty isn't it?
Jp. I like it:)😊
