4th day of Srilanka's trip. Anuradapura-Harabana-Bodhi tree & an exciting riding of elephants

Hi. We didn’t really sleep a lot tonight, since yesterday had lots of activities until late in the night. Neverheless, tiredness doesn’t stop us, as we are strong motivated and pushed forward for new adventures in the following days.

We only need a real simulus !;)

After an usual breakfast in the hotel, we took a bus ride towards one of the most sacred buddhist place on the island (Bodh Gaya), where the monastry and sacred fig (Mahabodhi) tree of buddha’s enlightenment are located. That tree was planted in 228 BC and is the oldest living human – planted tree in the world. In short, it’s one of the most sacred relics of the Buddhists in Srilanka and believers gather there, for prayer every single day.

Later we saw some irrigation systems, which are considered to be very old and advanced for that period and some of the biggest STUPAS on the island. What is STUPA? A dome – shaped building erected as a buddhist shrine, which should have relics inside.

At about 13:00 p.m. the way led us to the small city called Habarana (Anuradhapura district) where a life opportunity awaites us! Harabana is actually a popular tourist destination for safari lovers. And yoop, it was awesome and so unique! – Elephnants riding:).

After the activitiy we became hungry. It was time for a typical Srilanka’s lunch, prepeared exclusively for us by locals under the wooden pavilion nearby Habarana city. They also demonstrated us the process of prepearing one of the local dishes. It was really authentic, tasty, but spicy to;) !

It was the last activity of the day, since some rest was scheduled for that afternoon. We’ve been accomodated in a new Villa in town of Sigiriya (Fresco water villa) for next two nights! Starting point for the following trips. Otherwise, we have a pool for what we are really pleased, but also snakes, big lizards and other wild animals infront of the hotel terrace in the ground floor ! So scarry!
