10th day of Srilanka's trip. Panoramic train journey and reached Adam's peak ! Such a good day!:)
Picture of the day. After taking, it made me think a lot.
Hi. It was the earliest morning so far, as we had to wake up at 5:30 a.m. when the room phone was ringing. The famous Srilanka’s train journey from Ella to Hatton (about 4 hours long trip) programmed for today was waiting for us. Even though our departure from Ella’s train station was scheduled for 6:40 am, it didn’t go without delay BUT it was expected. Quite long panoramic journey was great, if we ignored the train’s slowness, a bit dirty wagons, and always crowded with people. I had to stand for more than halfway of the journey. But it was worth !;)
My best local guide ever!:)
After reaching the city of Hatton, our bus was already waiting for us infront of the train station. We headed toward the village of Mulgama which was the starting point of our new venture – a climb to the Adam’s peak. It is 2.243 m tall mountain peak located in central of Srilanka. Our starting point was at an altitude of 1.231 m. The mountain i’m talking about is a very popular pilgimage place, where thousends of people schend every day. Why this place is so sacred? The footprint of the Buda supposed to be located on the peak ground, however not only buddhists climb to the top, but also members of other religions. For example. Christians argue that it goes for the footprint of Apostle Tomaž, who is supposed to spread Christianity in this place and Muslims and Hindus have their own theory as well.
To climb on that peak you need to beat around 4800 steep steps and as i mentioned before around 1000 m of sea level. It was quite hard but definitely worth of all exertion!
At the way back we were caught by the storm also and consequently completely wet.;)
Later we’ve been accomodated in the pension Wathsala Inn in the city of Mulgama.
Se you soon.
