Mega-Requested Video: Cost of Living in Mexico - Price of Groceries at Costco in Guadalajara

in #travel6 years ago (edited)

Before coming to Mexico, one of the things we ourselves were the most curious about was what do things cost in Mexico? Are groceries in Mexico affordable? What should we expect to pay?

Not surprisingly, family members, friends, YouTube subscribers, Facebook users, and future Mexico travelers are all asking us the same questions now. Therefore, it seemed only right that we risk getting kicked out of Costco to record and share the prices of produce and common household items.

So how much are groceries at Costco in Guadalajara, Mexico?

You're about to find out. Watch the full video below.

I expected things Mexico to be cheaper. But clearly I'm still shocked. Are the price of things like that everywhere in Mexico or just in Guadalajara?
I was almost believing that first part of the video, but then I quickly remembered today is April 1st😀

Absolutely not! We were shocked to see such high prices after shopping in other stores around Mexico. Although Guadalajara was slightly more epxnesive than other cities, we think Costco isn't a good comparison.

mexico is a nice country, but many say the pollution is relatively high over there. As far as groceries are concerned it is becoming unaffordable in many countries

Costco is perhaps a bad comparison. There are other more affordable stores you can find besides Costco. It's a great option in the US, but not such a good on in Mexico based on this experience.

I think you are right

Got arrested?
Seriously, i think these prices are considerable reasonable. They are within the range of 2,000 to 3,000 naira (our local currency here), but i am sure, by the time they get here, it might be higher, due to rate of import duties and all. Those prices are quite fair from my side here.
I missed this video earlier, my phone is acting funny. Been off for two days. Feels cool typing via the laptop hahaha.
Funny, but you guys seem to be off your shades (glasses) today, hahaha. What happened?

Yaaaaay!. This is so real. Wow. Thanks a lot. I'm buzzing.

Prices are similar to what we have in Honduras, except the tuna fiash, that one is so much cheaper in Mexico, and we also don't have cactus at any supermarket here.

Interesting! Thanks for sharing!

Cactus seems like a SUPER unique thing to Mexico. We didn't even have that in the US. Curious to know what other regional items there are in Costcos across the world!

I don't believe Costco has an outlet in Honduras, but I live in La Ceiba maybe San Pedro Sula and Tegucigalpa the two largest cities have one. WE do have a Walmart here though.

Sorry, but there are a lot of cactus for sale in the U.S. supermarkets - in California, try Northgate, Cardenas Foods & Food 4 Less to name a few.
