Your travel plan - Strasbourg city trip ❯ now also in English ❮
Hello Steemians,
I travel unbelievably gladly it is not always so easy and cheaply although with three children. But where there's a will, there's a way. Since I have been travelling a lot since my childhood, with my parents at that time, and now with my own children, I would like to share my experience with you here. I was in more than 50 destinations and the continents are still missing only Australia.
What am I going to offer you here?
As I said, I would like to share my experiences, but in the area of travel planning. I love planning trips and have done so many times for friends (wedding trip), relatives and my own family. So far, everyone is very satisfied with my work and now I wish that you too can make sense of it and be inspired by my travel plans.
I will present here in the future destinations where I have been myself, but also destinations I haven't visited yet, but would like to do so. The most important thing about good travel planning is the research, so let's get started and look at the first destination.
Today's destination: Europe -> France -> Strasbourg
Type: City trip
Duration: 3-4 days
The journey
By train 🚊 :
The Strasbourg main train station is located at Place de la Gare near the centre of Strasbourg. If your hotel is still closed, I recommend that you give your luggage to a locker at the train station and board a mini-train at Notre Dam for a short city tour.
By car 🚘 :
Since parking in the city centre is only possible for a maximum of 2-2,5 hours and in addition 1 hour costs 2,50€ I recommend you to use the tram the costs here are manageable and you only need two trips because in the city centre almost everything is reachable by foot. An ideal parking possibility and only 4 stations from the center is the Krimmeri here costs the day ticket 4 €.
By plane ✈ :
The airport near Strasbourg can be found in Route de l' Aéroport - RD221,67960 Entzheim his airport code is SXB. From the airport, the French railway company SNCF travels every 10-20 min to Strasbourg central station, a single trip takes between 8-14 min and costs 2,60€ for an adult.
Accommodations
This is always a difficult subject because everyone here has different preferences and quality wishes. For this reason, there are three different hotels from the smallest to the most luxurious, important to mention, these hotels are all in the city centre to be able to start directly from there stress-free with walks and excursions.

You can make a trip as you like, since all of them take less than 2 hours. Enjoy the rest of the day with unfinished sightseeing or just stay in the old town.

Special excursions The Liebfrauenmünster
No building shapes the face of the city centre like this asymmetrical cathedral. It was once to be demolished because it is a sign of inequality in the Catholic Church. Today it is Strasbourg's THE emblem. The cathedral can be visited free of charge outside the fair, but for the really impressiveastronomic clock entrance fee must be paid. Tip: buy a ticket for the show at the tourist information office, then you only have to wait about 20-30 minutes. A video is shown and the clock becomes active at noon.
To be noted
- Here the current exchange rate for euro on X-RATES
- Boat tours should be booked at least one day in advance at the booking desk.
- All destinations can be mixed as you like.
- However, I have planned all destinations and restaurants to be close together.
- Check the distances if necessary. Sometimes the tram has to be taken.
Seasons
In the summer it is warm on average 25 degrees Celsius and the flowers trees and parks shine in their full splendour. In winter it has on average 0 degrees so moderate.

Thx next city is prag 😁
For 4 years in the 1980s we lived just across the Rhine in a small German town called Lahr-Schwarzwald. Saturday morning if we needed red wine and cheese we would head directly west to the nearest border post, usually unmanned, where a back road crossed some of the Rhine locks, and in about 25 minutes be at a very large shopping complex called Mammouth. Afterwards we would head another 25 minutes or so north into the city centre to visit one of the places you mention. So good to see them all again in your post!
If you realize your dream to visit Australia (and New Zealand too I hope) you should check out my 90 day roadtrip posts - you can find them on worldmap, but the best place to start is here: https://steemit.com/travel/@brightongreg/roadtrip-revisited-planning-the-90-day-tahiti-australia-new-zealand-roadtrip
Following.
I'm glad it brings back memories. And thank you very much for your link, the trip to Australia (yes also Zealand) will be done anyway, the question is only when. I have a great-aunt who lives near Sydney and we will stay with her for a few days. And the travel fever grips me again.
