ROAD TRIP: SEDONA - Catching up with Old Friends! - PART 2
Wow, what a bad hair day!
Continuing on from Part 1 here.
Driving up from Payson, AZ to Sedona, is an amazing drive in an all-wheel drive car; a really incredible journey.
On the way, we pass Tonto Natural bridge, which is a wonderful natural formation where the creek has carved a tunnel in the sedimentary rock it flows through, one of the great geological items on the map of what is called Rim Country ;-)

Past the "Bridge" we enter Pine, where my father had a house for 20 years. It really is the line where the "Big Trees" start to grow, separating in a very clear spot, where the desert ends and the forest begins.
Arizona is usually thought of as desert lands, but actually is home to America's largest Pine forest, in the northern half of this state.
Notice this picture; I have stopped to check the tires and the car, and the ground here, looks nothing like Sedona's Red Earth many miles away still..
Once we were at the top of Bell Rock, things are definitely looking RED !
Of course this is Iron in the sedentary rock found in this area, and is prevalent in this area ONLY. Consequently prices for homes in this area, are sky high...
After a drink and a few more jokes and insults all around, time to aim my space shuttle home. Careful, sunset is when the animals insist on coming out on the roads!
