My Oslob Escapade
Though tiring, travelling is one of my favorite hobbies. Especially if I am travelling with my friends and my love ones. Last December 2014, I told my boy friend that we will celebrate Christmas by visiting Oslob, a province in Cebu, Philippines. Since my boy friend isn't from Cebu and wants to visit some places in Cebu (aside from visiting me, of course..hehehe), he agreed to my idea. So these are the pictures taken when we went to Oslob, except for the first picture because we failed to visit the whale sharks since we don't have time anymore because we still have to attend a wedding. :) But I decided to include it here and got a picture from google (I forgot the source, because I accidentally close the link but I will search for it and put it here on my post as soon as I found it)because the whale shark watching is one of the popular activities in the province.
Found in the southern part of the Queen City of the South, Oslob is one of the tourist attraction in Cebu. With its crystal clear blue waters, pristine beaches, humongous but friendly whale sharks, romantic historical spots, majestic waterfalls, and friendly accommodating residents are most popular among Cebuanos and are most visited by local and foreign tourists.
Going there is quite long and tiresome (it usually takes 2-3 hours of travel from the city), but when you get there and visit the places like the whale sharks, Tumalog Falls, Baluarte, Sumilon Island, Cuartel, etc...your tiredness will be drained because of their breath-taking beauties. So, be sure to visit and don't dare miss to visit this place.
One of the natural wonders is the unique horseshoe waterfall of Tumalog Falls in Oslob, a municipality 170 kilometers from Cebu City. Lately, it has gotten a lot of attention after it became a side trip for people who wish to see the butandings.(adrenalineromance.com)
CUARTEL DE ESPAÑA. A local historian said that the cuartel was built by El Gran Maestro Don Marcus Sabandal to serve as barracks for the Spanish armies. It is also believed that the cuartel served as the first line of defense for the naval infantry due to the town’s strategic location. However, its construction was put on hold when the Americans arrived in 1899.
The Spanish cuartel with its double rows of arches and its 91 centimeter-thick walls of coral stones were left to stand unfinished for more than a century. It is said that the stones used for its construction came from the remnants of the collapsed floor of the once five-level bell tower of the nearby church of Nuestra Señora de la Inmaculada Concepcion . CALLE ARAGONES. Heritage structures in Oslob are easy to identify. For one thing, the focal point of the town’s oldest street, Calle Aragones from the national highway is the unfinished Spanish cuartel.

Bluewater Sumilon Island Resort is located on tranquil Sumilon Island. The Island remains as one of Cebu’s best kept secrets and is found on the southeastern tip of the mainland. It is 125 kilometers from Cebu City and is in close proximity to Dumaguete. The island has an area of 24 hectares and is surrounded by crystal clear waters with varying aquamarine hues. It is the first marine protected area in the Philippines and was made a fish sanctuary in 1974 under the guidance of Siliman University Marine Reserve. During dives, one will find varied marine species and even occasional sightings of black tip sharks. Pristine white sand beaches are situated in different areas in Sumilon.
Its sandbar is well known for its changing shapes and shifting locations around the island, depending on the season. On the island, there is a natural lagoon teeming with high mangroves. There are also natural caves where fishermen used to seek refuge. On the southside, a lighthouse rests on a protected tree park. Beside it is a “Baluarte”, a historical watchtower built as part of a warning system to thwart slavers and marauders in the 19th century. (http://www.bluewatersumilon.com.ph/about-us)
