Riding a motorcycle on the most dangerous roads in the World
A Bird's eye view of the road. The small brown line etched on the side of the mountain is the road that we rode on
Hello Steemit,
During July of 2018, I rode from a small town called Kishtwar to Kilar in the Indian Himalayas. With overhanging rocks, narrow roads just enough for one car in most parts, broken tarmac to no roads for maximum distance, waterfalls and streams flowing directly onto the road and a deep crevice on the side - this road is as adventurous as it gets.
I am sharing some photographs from that adventurous ride that
the ascent to the mountain road
The roads kept getting progressively worse and narrow
And the road kept getting narrower
Crossed some streams en route the top. PS: That is my wife on her Hero Impulse
There were some nice stretches of tarmac too. On these stretches, I could afford to look around the landscape while riding
That is me, all smiles during a break
The Descent was magical too. We got into the thickly wooded forests of lower Himalayas, and were covered by this huge towering trees on all sides.
The entire region of kishatwar is still an unexplored region to a large extent. Motorable roads are few and crazy. Beyond the roads too, there is so much to explore in these regions. I wish to head back for a longer stretch to this place, post the pandemic, once it is safer to travel.
