Let Me Show You The World #4 - Stunning Architecture of Frankfurt, Germany
Dr. Jose Rizal (Philippine National Hero) finished writing his famous novel Noli Me Tangere while living in Germany in the 19th century. The relationship between the two countries goes as far back as the Spanish colonial era. An agreement between the two nations in 1955 led to stronger and more dynamic relationship. Germany have an embassy in Manila and a consulate in Cebu. Similarly, the Philippines have an embassy in Berlin, and consulates in Hamburg and Frankfurt. In this post I will feature my short visit to Frankfurt.
Frankfurt, Germany can be best described as: The most international city in Germany, the largest financial centre on the continent, the historical city of coronations, the city of Goethe and the smallest metropolis in the world, in which there is a lot to discover at close hand. Let's explore!
The Römer
A Frankfurt landmark, is among the most beautiful and oldest town halls. Its silhouette, with three gables and the famous balcony, is known throughout the world.
Imperial Cathedral
Visible from far away and of exceptional historical significance: Saint Bartholomew’s Imperial Cathedral is a Frankfurt landmark and the coronation site of German emperors
Römerberg
This is where people from Frankfurt and all over the world come together: For more than 1,000 years, the Römerberg has been the centre of the city
Congress Frankfurt
As the world's largest trade fair concern with its own fairground, Messe Frankfurt is represented in more than 150 countries. In 2013 alone, Messe Frankfurt organized 114 trade fairs—more than half of them outside Germany. In Frankfurt, the company now has at its disposal nine trade fair halls and around 355,000 square metres of exhibition space, as well as such prestigious locations as the Festhalle, Congress Center, Forum, Portalhaus and Kap Europa, in its role of professional host and partner for guest events.
Skyscrapers
More than any other city in Germany the Frankfurt’s panorama is defined by its famous high-rise skyline. As the Main metropolis is one of the leading financial centres in Europe, many banks have built some extraordinary skyscrapers in the city centre
