I tried living out of a suitcase and I'm tired of it
Wow, it’s been a month since I was last on Steemit. Feels like so much have happened since. I’ve been speed-travelling (a new country every 3 days) and at the same time also working on a freelance project which is massively helping to feed me!
A few years ago I met this couple who took a year off to travel. They went home after 8 months because they said they got tired of travelling. I didn’t get it. I couldn't imagine that anyone would ever be tired of travelling. To me that's like saying that they're tired of having too much money, or tired of being so good-looking.
Like is that even possible???
Then.... 2 months ago, after more than a year of living out of a suitcase, I was at an airport, waiting to board a plane. And I was weary. I felt tired of travelling. I was tired of airports and waiting for planes/trains/buses. I was tired of packing. Now I finally understood what that couple meant.
It's such a privilege to be able to do what I'm doing right now. Living the dream, they call it... I am extremely grateful to live like this. Some say:
And this WAS my life for a long while...but I've been on this journey without a destination for long enough. Time to land.
Anyway, just a quick update! When things settle (will they ever?), I look forward to posting more writings, instead of just photos!
Hi YOU! Hey thats no way to be travelling! Planes?! Trains?! Suitcase?!
No wonder you got tired of all that shite hahahahha..
People that go traveling like that must be stressed most of the time and spending a fortune! I forget that this is classed as travelling, but its more like rushing here and there - for over a year?! Hat off to ya :)
Great that your back!
I can only be in EU for 90 days each time... then i have to be away for 90 days before i can come back to EU for 90 days. Actually if i plan it better i could just do that 90 days in croatia, so i dont have to take a plane. But i dont know anyone in croatia (YET) and i go where i can get free long term accommodation (which means EU, South East Asia, Oceania) and all 3 regions require planes to get to each other! If i could stay in EU indefinitely then i'd have bused to you lol.
Norway isn't in the EU! Hahaha ;)
-.- to be specific I'm on the schengen visa which includes scandinavia! 🤣🤣🤣
I lived in west africa for 6 months and after 3 months I just went to the military police, gave them 10 GBP and they would just stamp my passport with another month hahahhahaha - no it wasnt legal, but the stamp was lawful ;)
OH! I must admit I have no clue about these matters lol
Hang out at steemit more, you can make friends and then go visit them and make posts about it that go trending. I really want to visit @vincentnijman in his new Portuguese paradise. 90 days in one place seems exciting to me. If it gets boring, you can do 30 in 3 places.
Hahahaha let's do it! I love visiting friends in faraway places! Nowadays 90 days in one place goes too fast for me. I want to stay put in the same place for 6 months at least. The nesting instinct is starting.....
I’m really not into “travel”. I don’t understand the appeal of “seeing” lots of places. If I have a chance to stay for a month, sure...if it’s any less than 5 days, forget it. I want to KNOW the world, not just SEE it!
My mode of travel is always a month in each destination, and on the third or fourth I almost always grow some roots.
