Return to GR 131 (Day 8) / Návrat na GR131 (Den 8)

in #travel5 years ago

On the eighth day of our stay in Tenerife we got up again at sunrise with a plan to go to the observation deck, which was not far from where we spent the night. The plan disappeared when I came to the platform and found that the wind was blowing incredibly, so I was looking for a place where I could take pictures of the lee.

I found a small vista through the trees from where you could see the top of Mount Teide. So I waited for the moment when the rising sun shines on the mountain. While I was waiting, I was looking for another opportunity to take pictures. I had to, because the wind was very cold, and during the time I was fairly frozen.

Since we were at an altitude of 1750 meters above sea level and we were above the clouds, I climbed the observation platform for a while, where I saw the island of Grand Canaria and so another photo was taken. Then I went back to the tent. Along the way I jumped and warmed the frozen body. Meanwhile, a colleague got up and made hot tea. It was the first morning I really appreciated him. We packed up and set off on the road.

Mezitím kolega vstal a připravil horký čaj.

By that time the sun had begun to heat up, and through the trees he was drawing interesting patterns on the asphalt road. And so another photo was taken. After getting to the GR 131 connection, I noticed a very old tourist sign that amused us with its look.

The whole journey was quite strange and looked rather unused. There was even a cross with several ceramic figures like a duck, a pig with cymbals, a cat or a lying dog. Then we continued on GR 131 before the road changed quite a bit. Especially from a place called Lomo Negro.

We walked along a path cut into a rock, and from a great height only a wooden railing protected us. The area around Roques Blancos was the largest notch. Here my colleague remembered that he had not actually seen the slate on the island. As soon as we walked around the corner there was a whole rock of this stone. On the ground he found a piece of stone that was perhaps 2 mm thin. In this terrain our one waited to cross one more deep valley before we finally descend.

As we began to descend we began to meet tourists heading for some rock, which I did not even marked on the map. Most of them were tourists relying on Google maps. Every time they showed me their map, they only had a white area and wanted to know where they were. So I pulled out my phone where I used mapy.cz. They were always wondering what it was like the exact map and usually downloaded it immediately if a signal was present. After climbing the steepest descent we walked almost along the continent to a place called Área Recreativa La Caldera. Some of you who have read my first travel book from Tenerife, you know that I ended my first pilgrimage here. So from this point I had fulfilled. I crossed the entire island from north to south.

Since it was quite early, I got the idea that we could use the bus and go to La Orotava for some supplies. We threw the backpacks into the bushes and went shopping. We bought meat for the grill, some good rum and lots of other goodies. And again we took the bus back to Área Recreativa La Caldera. Where we made a fire in the grill and enjoyed a relaxing evening. Because the next day our awaited the climb to the Parque del Nacional del Teide.

Hodili jsme batohy do křoví a vyrazili nakupovat. Koupili jsme si maso na gril, nějaký dobrý rum a spoustu dalších dobrot. A opět jsme busem jeli zpět k Área Recreativa La Caldera. Kde jsme si rozdělali oheň v grilu a užívali si odpočinkový večer. Protože další den náš čekalo stoupání k Parque del Nacional del Teide.

The eighth day seemed to be simple, but eventually turned into the hardest day we had on the island. Not due to distance, but due to the difficulty of the terrain. We walked 13.5 km and climbed 1752 meters.

Ušli jsme 13.5 km a překonali převýšení 1752 metrů.
