Real Life in Korea on the Back Yard Alley

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Every city has it's characteristics.
In this matter I'd like show you night street bar on the back yard alley in Seoul.
I met my senior friend who had studied together in Post Graduate University.
We have met from time to time and exchanged our views and opinions when it comes to the current issues mainly on political problem. There are lots of political controversies in Korea especially on Internal and External matters. My friend is progressive. But I am a little bit conservative. I don't know self-definition is persuasive or not. I think my self conservative, but some of my friend told me 'you are progressive'.

Any way we two different political view holders met some days ago and had discussed til late night.
Before talking together, we took a walk along the Cheongyecheon stream which the former president Lee Myeong Back had made When he was the mayor of Seoul city. Cheonggyecheon Stream was really awesome.

We entered into the back yard alley. There one instrument store opened the door until late Saturday night.

My friend guided me to his favorite beer house 'Don Chicken'

He ordered dried fish. He told me a dried fish for beer is best option.

The dried fish tasted very good.

Along the back yard alley, there were so many people sitting on the street to drink beer.

It was Saturday night. Who or what did them make drink out side at Saturday night ?

Yes, that's the harshness of life as you know.

When you 'd like to see real life in Korea, you need to go the back yard alley.

The fish looks absolutely delicious.
Great to see the hustle and bustle of a great Saturday night with everyone looking so happy! :)
Exceptional Photographs @slowwalker

Wow! That's a bubbly and lively side of korea. Nice to see that even life is harsh, people can still enjoy their life and have some fun. :)

Yes for fish and beer!!!

It was really nice

Hi @slowwalker I've written an article about you, check it out if you can, thanks.

Great post! I love to see other cultures life and food :)

So this is real life in Korea on a Saturday night huh, I like blogs like this that capture life in different parts of the world.

I need you to be a listener -
you need me to hang words on.
we are friends...
because neither has discovered
a limit where the other ends...

I wrote those words for a close friend of mine who recently died. We'd often laugh, drink and talk late into the night in local bars or restaurants and your post reminds me of that. I am glad you have such a close friend, @slowwalker.

If you and your friend both agree, there will still be two points of view, Labels such as progressive or conservative identify aspects of us but don't define us.

There is nothing as pleasurable as spending a weekend night with a friend in an outdoor restaurant talking about life. It helps us to see who we really are.

The simple back alley bar and the street life are an aspect of Seoul's life, but so too are the city walls and gates and the traditional houses and temples. You observe all aspects of the culture, @slowwalker, and capture them in colourful photos.

Another interesting post, my friend

Follow me @mrnobody, i follow you :)

Thank you @jhonjgeddes
Have a nice weekend.

This is like a whole new universe to me . Wow. I am fascinated. You know I want to see this other
way of living, because here in Ireland , we are in such a small island, we kind of live in a bubble land. It would be a great eye opener for me. I loved your photography too. You have a great eye.

You're welcome & Thank You for showing me a day in your life. I will be keeping close eye for more.

Thanks for sharing.Follow you.

I wanted to ask you how does the dry fish taste @slowwalker? I've just posted a national recipe just earlier on Salted dry fish, is it the same taste?
Cheers
@progressivechef

Thanks for sharing this "real life" perspective!
I definitely recognize these colorful plastic stools. Seems like small restaurants all over Asia like to use these for their customers!
It's funny to see how everyone is just sitting in this alley, enjoying their beers. It's the simple things in life that make us happy!

On a different note, I was wondering about your opinion when it comes to south korea and ethereum.
I've just written a post about Korea entering the cryptocurrency world this year, and how especially their love for Ethereum has made them accountable for over 50% of global ethereum traffic - that's quite crazy!
Do you feel like cryptocurrencies have become prominent in everyday life in Korea? Or is it still something unknown that only tech-savy people know about?

I think Ethereum fever in korea is crazy. Many koreans seems to think ethereum as a investment asset. They don't care about Technical risk.

Do you think koreans are investing in ethereum because they see some value in it or just because everybody else is doing it and it's fashionable?
