A sudden visit to Sule Pagoda, Yangon Myanmar.

I visited a few months back before the crisis. Sadly, after visiting my views of the country have changed.
The situation is so vastly complicated, I would need to write so much about the historic and political context to get my point across that it would require a proper essay. Overall, there is no denying that atrocities are being committed by the Myanmar military but the wider context in which the conflict is taking place is much more complicated and nuanced than the relatively black & white picture that is being presented in the international media, one that is easy for general readers/viewers to digest and understand. Ive lived across Asia for over 15 years and even lived in the middle of conflict zones and seen first hand how often western media outlets generalize and over simply situations all in order to publish digestible articles that fit a certain narrative.
