# Day 7 Beautiful glacier, waterfall and the first time celebrating 4th of July
Hi there steemians, I'll hope you having a good day/evening so far. Today another post from my journey through Alaska, I hope you like it :)!
So I've never experienced 4th of July in the US before, so I was very excited to be part of this celebration day. The cruise ship was decorated with American flags and balloons, it was very pretty. But then we went off the ship and OMG I thought it only rained a lot in the Netherlands, but it was raining the whole day in Juneau (Alaska). So that was when we decided to take a bus tour and we felt like "real tourists" :P. Usually we go our on way, but it was to far to walk to the glacier and the waterfall and especially in the rain.
The bus driver Kenny was a really funny man, he was telling all about the city of Juneau and was making jokes during the tour so we had a blast. Kenny was dropping us off nearby the glacier and from there we had to walk about 30 minutes to the waterfall and from there we saw the glacier also very close by. We couldn't get on the glacier, but it was beautiful anyway. When we walked along the trail we felt like it was getting colder and colder, the ice and the water were really freezing!! We almost were blown away by the fall, you could really feel the power from the water there.
When we got back to the visitor center, we decided to go on a hiking tour on our own and we were told we might see some bears :). I can tell you, it is weird when someone says you might see bears along the trails, because you're walking there and everytime you hear something, you think OMG a bear :P. It felt like we were in a rainforest and all of a sudden we saw a porcupine, he was so cute.
Also that day there was a 4th of July parade in the city and people were dressed up in the most bizarre outfits :P, but it was so fun to watch and then we ended our day in the Red Dog Saloon. When we came in we saw this men singing and playing the piano and the waitresses wore nice dresses, corsets and feathers in their hair. It was really fun and it felt like we were in a western movie :P.
It was a very nice day in Juneau and later that evening we were celebrating 4th of July on the ship with music and drinks, so it was a 4th of July to remember! :)
