Travel to Guadeloupe part 1steemCreated with Sketch.

In a few posts, I'm going to recount my 2-week trip to Guadeloupe, from which I returned last Sunday.
We organized the trip in advance for the route, transport and accommodation.

When we arrived at the airport, a rental car was waiting for us, a small model, a Picanto, sufficient for 2, and we only had cabin luggage so as not to waste time at check-in and landing.
It gets dark very early in Guadeloupe, and we had to drive some thirty kilometers in the dark to reach our first accommodation on narrow roads in pretty poor condition.
The nightlife is pretty limited, but we found a very nice snack bar open to the public, frequented by locals, where we could finally settle down, drink a punch planteur and eat cod acras, West Indian boudin and a gratin of local vegetables.
The next day we went to the Pointe des Chateaux at the eastern end of the island. Here are a few photos, the first of which shows a cross, and the next two were taken from this cross.
The third shows the island of Désirade in the distance, our next destination.
There was a small signpost by the cross with a Creole translation, which I found amusing.

We then took our first dip in the sea on the beach of Anse à la Gourde.
What a pleasure to swim in 30°C temperatures, after leaving Paris the day before where it was 3°C.

And to restore us we ate Chatrou (octopus) with local beer (Gwada) in a small restaurant, Chez Krikri. It was a bit disappointing, I'm used to eating larger portions of octopus, especially when I go to Portugal, but I was told that in Guadeloupe the octopus was smaller?
Fortunately, we had taken the Antillean plate with acras, boudin (with cod) and eggplant fritters for starters.
We ate much better on the rest of our trip.
Here it was quite expensive too, but afterwards we were able to eat for around €20 per person in small restaurants, between €3 and €6 for sandwiches (Bokits, Agoulous) and around €10 for takeaways.
The lobster was very expensive, around 50€ per person, so we didn't try it, but there were so many other good things to eat that we didn't regret it.
I'll talk about the next stop, La Désirade, in another post.
