Mauritius: Catamaran Trip to Paradise Island!!

On Wednesday we went on a Catamaran trip to Paradise Island

The catamaran was moored a small distance from the shore, and we were taken to the catamaran by a motorboat.

After boarding the catamaran we set sail for Paradise Island.

We sat on the front deck from where we had a birds-eye view of the surroundings.

It was a beautiful sunshiny day.

The crew even had a braai going on-board of the ship!!

As we all know, beer goes with a braai, and the crew did not disappoint, they had beer to serve the guests!! We stopped en-root to do some snorkeling, which was beautiful, unfortunately I am not equipped to take underwater photos. The coral were not very colorful, but there was some beautiful fish to look at.

We could see the buildings on the shore as we did not sail to deep into the ocean.

We proceeded up a river to go and look at a waterfall, which gave us the opportunity to see some more of the buildings on the shore.


We temporarily changed our catamaran for a smaller boat to travel up river as it became to narrow for the bigger boat.

A few monkeys looked at us as we passed by.

The waterfall was not very big, but it was a beautiful site and our skipper brought us really close.

Just look at that water flowing and tumbling down into the river!!

The water almost fell into our boat!!

When we arrived back at our catamaran, lunch was ready!!

We passed some mountains as we continued with our journey towards Paradise Island

Finally we arrived!!

The island had very nice long beaches that surrounded most of the island.

They had some paragliding at the island, so we again boarded a small motorboat that took us to a platform in the see from where we took off and landed again. You can see the parachute in the distance. My wife and I went up together. She almost had a heart attack when we went up, but we landed safely again. She said never again. I on the other-hand quite enjoyed it, although it was all over far to quickly!!

I found this very interesting tree on the island!!

Our time on the island came to an end far to quickly and we had to board our catamaran again!! There was a lot of activity going on with boats coming and going constantly!!

Here you can see us on deck again on our way home, we met this couple who was also from South-Africa!!

We again saw some beautiful buildings on our way back.

When we arrived back we saw this interesting looking ice-cream van, selling ice-cream, but at 99 Rupees, it was too expensive for us. Mauritius was very expensive for us, I think they abuse the tourist with their prices!!

This catamaran trip was really very nice and enjoyable. It was an experience of a lifetime!! We were out for 6 hours (09:00 to 15:00), which is basically the entire day. I thoroughly enjoyed the day
