Sorry you had bad luck with the weather, but you made the best of it. It was nice to see the the castle again, it's been a long time since we've ventured inside, and truthfully I don't think we spent more than an hour inside. So I really enjoyed your tour!
I like to get there from the backside, it takes longer that way, butit's not as crowded and you can eat at the Stadtalm http://www.stadtalm.at/de

Hi Roused, I remember once you wrote about Salzburg "from the other side". On my next visit I will definitely avoid the tourist centres.
Yeah, the weather wasn't so great. The students didn't care. Unfortunately, I caught a cold :( But not so bad, now are school holidays :))
