This is the ninth article of this series. In this article, I will continue to discuss the local transportation part of the plan of seeing the magnificent canyon in the Taroko.
In this series of articles, I want to share with you the most important thing is that don't let the cost stop your travel dreams. As long as you keep following my articles, you will find that the budget for the travel can be very small, and much smaller than you think.
First of all, let's make a small conclusion directly. Regarding the local transportation way of Hualien, I personally suggest renting a motorcycle. Because Hualien is not very small, and the mass transit system is not so developed, renting a motorcycle in the local area is the most suitable way. It will save your money, time and have a high degree of freedom.
If you don't have the international driving license of the motorcycle, renting a car in Hualien is the second choice and it is very simple. In addition, of course, you can also choose to take the bus, but it will take a lot of time and don’t have a high degree of freedom. Or you can choose to take the taxi for two or three days, which is relatively free but expensive.
Just remember, it is not recommended to rent a car from Taipei or other places and then drive it to Hualien. Although the distance seems to be only 100km to 200km, the section from Yilan to Hualien is very dangerous.
The content below I would like to introduce my most recommended way "rent a motorcycle in the local area". If you want to rent a motorcycle here, just do the following steps.
The first step is to click this link above.
This link is the official website of the Directorate General of Highways of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications. On this page, you can find the link of the file of your country or area and then click it. Here we take “Europe” for an example. Click here to see the information as the picture below.
Here we take “Denmark” as an example. If the international driver's license (IDP) for operating a vehicle issued by us is valid in Denmark, then the Danish international driver's license for operating a vehicle is also valid here.
So in this link, you can confirm if your international driving license is effective here or not, and if it is effective, there is no problem to rent a motorcycle here.
The second step is to apply for an international driver's license of the motorcycle in your country. When you travel to Hualien, bring your passport, international driver's license, and your native driver's license, then you can rent a moto.
The third step is that email or calls the motorcycle rental companies to make sure if they have the willingness to rent the motorcycles to the foreigners. If they have the willingness, then check that do they have enough moto for you to rent at the dates you want to stay.
Here are three motorcycle rental companies that can rent to foreigners now which I researched for a long time. Of course, when you want to rent a motorcycle, you still have to call or email them to reconfirm whether they can rent motorcycles to foreigners.

The picture above shows some instructions for renting motorcycles to foreigners. The key point is the same that you need to show your passport and international driver's license and show your credit card.
The rental fee for each motorcycle rental company is about 10-15 US dollars a day. It is really very economical, time-saving, and high degree of freedom.
It doesn't matter if you rent a motorcycle in other places. Basically, there is no need to leave a form of ID with them in these three companies above. The most important thing to note is that if the rental company asks to leave a form of ID with them or signing the promissory note, then consider going the others, this way will protect yourself.

这一篇是这次系列的第九篇。我这里要继续讨论的是到花莲太鲁阁看壮丽峡谷行程当中的花莲租车部份。
在这系列的文章中，我想要跟大家分享最重要的事情是：不要让花费阻碍了你的旅行梦想，只要你常追踪我的文章，你会发现，旅行的预算也可以非常小，会远比你想像中的小很多。
首先我们直接先做一个小结论，关于花莲当地的交通方式，我个人建议，最好的方法是租机车。因为花莲不是很小，并且大众交通系统没有这么发达，在当地租机车是最适合的方式，省钱，省时间，并且有很高的自由度。
如果你们没有国际机车驾照的话，在花莲当地租汽车是第二个选择，也是非常简单。除此之外，当然你也可以选择搭乘公车，只是会花费比较多时间，自由度也不高。或者是包计程车两三天，比较自由但花费很高。
只要记得，不建议从台北或其他地方租车后再开来花莲，虽然看似只有100公里到200公里左右的距离，但是从宜兰到花莲的路段非常的危险。
下面我要介绍我最建议的方式“在当地租机车”。如果你想要在这里租摩托车，只需要做下列几个步骤就可以。
第一步是进入上面这个联结。
这个联结是交通部公路总局的官方网站，在此页可以找到你的国家或地区的文件档联结，然后点进去，这里以Europe为例。点进去会看到如下图的资料。
这里我们以丹麦为例子。如果我们这边核发的摩托车的国际驾照（IDP）在丹麦是有效的，那丹麦的国际驾照在这里也是有效的。
所以在这个连结中，你可以确认是否你的国际驾驶在这里是有效的，如果有效的话租摩托车就没有问题了。
第二步就是在你的国家申请国际驾照，之后来花莲旅行时，带护照，国际驾照跟你们国家的驾照，这样就可以租摩托车了。
第三步就是要先email或是打电话给机车出租行，确认那时候出租行是否愿意租给外国人，这样就可以了。如果确认出租行是愿意租给外国人的，就确认你要待的日期是否有车可以租就可以了。
下面是三间我寻找很久后，我找到的现在可以租给外国人的机车出租行，当然当你要租摩托车时时，还是要打电话或是email 给他们，再次确认他们是否可以租摩托车给外国人。
