The Beauty of Baybay
Hello everyone how Y'all doing? Today I'm going to talk about the other local destination in Baybay City, Leyte. So if you're already planning on visiting the Philippines' Very Scenic University , you mind as well visit this breathtaking and marvelous tourist attraction. (If you haven't read my blog about VSU yet, just click on the link)
For our first stop, this local attraction is actually still part of the VSU. The students in the campus and the locals in the nearby barangay calls it 'Hydro'. Hydro is an old dam in VSU used as a source of electricity by the campus and the nearby barangays thru hydro electric power, (I think we now have a clue why the locals call this place as Hydro) but now it is used as the main source of water for VSU's Olympic size swimming pool. The refreshing and cool water flowing thru the dam is coming straight from the Mt. Pangasugan.
This attraction is just 15 to 30 minutes walk from the VSU main campus and its 5-6 feet deep.
For our next destination, if you're looking for some trekking experience alongside a river, the Bakwitan Falls, or in some locals known as the Pangasugan Falls, is the right place for you. This attraction is known for its very clear, clean and cold water. And what I mean by cold is that its really cold like literally you don't need to bring ice for your drinks in this place because you can just deep it straight into the water. The falls is about 1-2 hours from the main road, you don't have nothing to worry about the direction because you'll just have to simply follow the Bakwitan river and it will bring you directly to the falls. While walking to the falls you may find some beautiful spots in the river as well.
Our next stop is to Aqua Azul Beach Resort located in Barangay Bunga, Baybay, Leyte. This attraction is just 2 barangays and 15 minutes away from VSU. You just have to ride a multicab to go here for a fare of P7.00.
To enjoy the resort, you just have to pay P40.00 entrance fee. And in order for you to have a table or cottage, just prepare around P100 - P500 which depends on the type of cottage that you want. The main pool of the resort is divided into two. First is the 7 feet infinity pool facing the sea where you can enjoy the stunning view of sunset in the afternoon.
The second part of the pool is the for the kids which is 3 feet deep and right in the middle of it is a center isle where the adults can enjoy sun bathing.
The resort also offers a beach volleyball court, a playground and the recently added 2 slides in the infinity pool. Sadly, the resort can't accommodate a overnight stay-in as of now but every guest is very much welcome to have a night swimming in the resort.
And for our last but definitely not the least attraction, the Lintaon Peak. This mountain is only a short drive outside Baybay City, accessible through Pomponan, on the Baybay-Maasin Road. After a drive up the hill, the wind-swept Lintaon Peak, the city’s highest point, affords guests a commanding view of the city, the Camotes Sea and islands across the channel. It's cool and breezy here, even if it's stuffy and hot in the city.
As part of its 10th cityhood day, Baybay recently opened the 16,000 Blossoms Park here adorned by 16,000 LED lights, which light up the mountain at night. The park is comprised of white and red blooms embedded in the grassy meadow forming the phrase “I Love Baybay.”
There is also a small cave, with some water, for exploring. It's not monitored, and there is no entrance fee. There are some ropes and stairs inside for climbing into the cave. Caution is advised, as well as a hat.
And that would be all for now guys, see you on my next post!
