Kasol lies in the picturesque Parvati Valley of North India.

That being said, the valley has a climate perfect for the cultivation of many plants indigenous to the area. And many locals will be happy to sell you some. After all, weed is about as legal in this valley as it is in Colorado. :P

The Signs are in English, Hindi and Hebrew, all thanks to the tourists from Israel who come and stay for months at times. Besides, a long trek can work up quite the appetite!

Of course, mother nature is never far away, with the lush greens quick to conquer all signs of human habitation.

The gentle tranquility belies the energy and activity in the valley. In the most rugged of terrains, pack animals can be more reliable than the latest machines.

The locals have also grown to rely on man’s best friend, with breeds rare in the rest of the country a common sight here. The dogs never bark and will trot along during treks for hours altogether.

And every trek offers different sights, different smells and different experiences - each distinct yet congruous with the last.
