After the stress of the wedding, every newly married couple deserves a relaxing honeymoon. With budget airlines, the world has not only become smaller, it has become more and more accessible. The options are endless. We chose Maldives for the following reasons:

1. Location- From Manila, budget airlines such as AirAsia, CebuPacific, Scoot, offers reasonable fare for Male(where the airport in Maldives is). We chose to take AirAsia for this trip as it had the cheapest offer at that time. Price range is from $150 to $400 one way. We traveled from Manila to Kuala Lumpur to Male in a total of 15 hours.

2. Seaplane experience-From Male, we transferred to a sea plane for our resort. We got this inclusive of our package because we stayed for a week in our chosen resort. Otherwise, it would have cost us an arm and a leg. We definitely need those for our honeymoon.
   

3. Food- Yes, I can’t stress enough how important food is for us. Whenever we travel, this costs us more. My husband happens to be a foodie. So, we just HAD to consider this. Luckily, most resorts in Maldives offers half board, full board, all-inclusive packages. We chose all-inclusive. We could eat and drink whenever we want(well, so long as the bar was open).

4. Beach- Coming from an archipelago with lots of beautiful beaches, I must say that the Maldivian sea is flawless. The water is clean and clear, the reefs are healthy, the sea creatures are abundant, and the sand is powder white. We definitely enjoyed seeing sharks, stingrays, and fish from the decks.

5. Accommodation- Picture perfect water villas are very iconic, and we just can’t miss it.

I should be stopping at 5 but let me just add a bonus.

Bonus: Photoshoot Perfect Venue
We didn’t have pre-nuptial photos taken because we were both very busy before our wedding. So we decided to pack our wedding outfits for a photoshoot in Maldives. Hiring a professional photographer and flying him in from Manila is very costly. We want to make sure we start our married life with some funds to sustain us so splurging has its limits. We were very delighted that one of the resort staffs enjoys taking photos. (If you plan to follow suit, please tip the staff for their extra service and their time-friendly advise)

By the way, Maldives gives visa upon arrival so it’s really a stress-free vacation.
