Sacramento Trip, Part Four: Car Museum, a Movie, The Porch, Home.
The last installment of my Sacramento Trip recap. This will be my most picture-heavy post because of all the photos I took at the car museum. In light of that (and because of I am super tired), there will be less text in this post.
All right! My last installment, Part Three, ended with our delicious breakfast at Orphan Breakfast House. From there we headed straight to the Cal Auto Museum. The admission fee was only $10 each, which we felt was a great price considering how much there was to see and how knowledgeable and friendly the docents were.
Their feature exhibit, the British Motoring Exhibit, runs through January 27, 2020
We accidentally started in the middle of the museum, at the British exhibit, and then realized there was a recommended route that follows the chronology of the automobile so we went back and started from the beginning. There were so many interesting and neat vehicles, but I am only sharing the ones that were particularly special, iconic, or my personal favorites.
1929 Stutz Model M Sedan
1911 Pierce Arrow Model 48 Touring
1911 Detroit Electric Brougham - an electric car with the cutest lamps
mmm, I loved this gold and white 1907 Ford Model K Roadster
1908 Ford Model T Touring Car
1933 Lincoln KB Sedan
You shall ride eternal, shiny and chrome
1940 Lincoln Zephyr Sedan - I love this one
1949 Cadillac Series 62 Sedan and 1954 Chevy Corvette Roadster
1950 Mercury Custom - I thought this was so cute
cute booty
1953 Kaiser Manhattan
1958 Cadillac Eldorado Seville - those fins!
1987 Lamborghini Countach - not my cup of tea, but definitely a classic exotic sports car.
The iconic 1966 Shelby Cobra - I specifically took this picture to send to my dad
1936 Graham Supercharger Sedan and 1953 Chevy Bel Air
Jaguar MK IX Saloon
1945 Bentley Mk VI Sports Saloon (I think)
Overall the museum was great and I would definitely go back there again to see future exhibits.
After the museum, we headed to the theaters to watch a matinee showing of Joker. Of course we both enjoyed it immensely, and if I had the time I would like to see it again before it leaves theaters.
It was nearing 4:30 or 5:00pm when the movie finished, which we figured was the perfect time for an early dinner at The Porch before heading back home. There was no wait for a table because we arrived so early, which was nice.
our last stop on our Vegan Chef Challenge Tour
We started with the Sweet Chili Cauliflower, which was super tasty.
My boyfriend ordered the chickpea and potato cakes for his entree, and I got the grilled tofu sandwich.
blurry photos of food again, because bf is always eager to dig in
We shared our meals, and I ended up really liking his chickpea and potato cakes. We finished those, but we couldn't finish the sandwich so we took that home with us.
After our last meal in Sacramento, it was time to go back home. I surprisingly managed to stay awake the entire drive, partially because it was still light enough to watch for birds for most of the drive home. When it started to get dark, I was still able to keep awake because of how eerie the sky looked. At one point the clouds were all purple and concentrated in one area ahead of us, and we couldn't help but imagine our own supernatural scenarios. We passed through that area pretty quickly, but the rest of the drive home was really lovely because of how the colors in the sky were constantly changing.
And that's the end of the trip. It was short, but full and I am grateful for the time we had there. Thanks for reading :)
