Ancient Imperial Capital Hue
One best day of my life after another. The Imperial City of Hue was build from 1804 to 1833 and was the main seat of the family of the Nguyen Emperors. In Vietnam a lot of places are called Nguyen and it seems like half of the populations last Name is Nguyen(officially 40%). Today I learned a little more about who they were. They were the rulers of this country from 1802-1945. The forbidden City inside the capital was a place where only the emperor, his family, their concubines, servants and high officials were allowed. Now it is open for visitors and it is amazing. It is surrounded by a big wall and the inside reminded me a lot about the forbidden city in Beijing.
The highest flag pole in Vietnam.
9 cannons right at the two entrances. 5 in the west 4 in the east.
The main entrance to the imperial city. Entrance fee 150.000 Dong(5,50€). Totally worth it.
I love the beautiful old architecture.
The places where no one else went to were my favorite. The energy there was even more original.
The dress of the number 1 concubine.
Throne of the empress.
I think I would make a pretty good emperor.
Right next to the Imperial City is the Hue Royal Antiquities Museum. Unfortunatly it was not allowed to take pictures inside.
I planned to finish Hue in 3 hours and then go further to Hoi An today, but the feeling inside the Imperial Capital was so overwhelming that it took me 5 hours and I am staying here for the night. The district right next to it is also very nice and the bridges are lightened beautifully by night. One of the better cities in Vietnam.
