New York.

This city left a lasting impression! To say that this is a city of contrasts — to say nothing.
Before I went there, I had my own idea about this city, which had nothing to do with reality.
When our plane landed at JFK airport, I could not believe that I will be able to see this legendary city with your own eyes.
Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, Broadway, Wall Street, Central Park

I have never experienced such conflicting emotions before.
This city can be described completely opposite adjectives.
Beautiful and terrible, luxurious and poor, friendly and frightening...
It's all there. Go down Broadway. Elegant buildings, hotels, offices. There are also some little shops with Chinese goods. Rounding a corner and everything changes. With a rich, bustling, crowded streets you find yourself on a deserted and miserable. Horror. And it is in the center of Manhattan!

Remember the movie "Ghost" with demi Moore and Patrick Swayze? After the hero Patrick was attacked with a knife in a dark and empty alley, I thought: "Why they went to this awful neighborhood?"
Now I understand that this can not be avoided. This Is New York.
Our hotel was located in Midtown Manhattan. We decided to walk to the Bottom to feel the atmosphere of the city.
Passing through China town (Chinatown), Little Italy (Little Italy), we had a strange feeling that we came to their territory, and wanted to get away. We did not even take any photos.
And here we are in Lower Manhattan!
The famous Brooklyn bridge

It is a pity that we did not rise to it. The view from there is, I think, exciting.
Wall street! I've read so much and heard about this place. And here we are there...

"Here happening the destiny of the world. At that moment I felt and thought so.
On this day, we passed a lot of kilometers on foot. Tired and very hungry. It turned out that this problem. In sight were there no suitable institution.
More precisely, none at all. Seeing some bistro we went. Sorry, did not take a picture. It was something like the dining room, where there was a terrible sickening smell and a decent view of the people sitting at the tables, if hands from the paper.
In parks on the benches we have seen people who, when out of plastic containers. I accustomed to home healthy food, such a prospect is not very much. But for many new Yorkers this is normal. Also like drinking coffee out of big paper cups. Crap rare.
In the end, we were lucky. Turning off Fifth Avenue on a parallel street and after a few blocks, we managed to find a simple, but cute Italian restaurant with a beautiful kitchen. We ate heartily and relax while enjoying the cute smiling audience who came to dinner. The cheque was big. But health is more expensive.
The next day we had planned to hike to Central Park.

It was a Saturday. On Broadway people was so much that needed to maneuver in the crowd below with no one to face. For me, a lover of mountains and forests, it was a real challenge.
Central Park was an oasis of calm and relaxation. People walked, ran, rode bikes and roller skates, played sports, had picnics ustrial. Nice. And no noise, alcohol and the police.

Beautiful place. We are unable to get around the entire Park that day. He was too big. Had to take a bike or ride a horse. The next time will be smarter.

To talk about new York a lot. What I wrote in this post, this is just a dry transfer facts. What I felt there, impossible to convey in words.
The mood changed from wild speed. Delight and admiration, frustration and sadness followed each other all the time.
My overall impression about this city was such that I didn't want to go there anymore and didn't understand how you can live there. Especially if you have the money.
But now I realize that those emotions and feelings that I experienced out there, can't pass, they need to survive. I was in new York only 3 days. I haven't seen to much. And many may not understand.
...Now I realized that I wanted to go back there. I'm different now, as well as new York.

I've really enjoyed reading your post. I think the part about what's happening in the world being determined by the goings on of a street that could be any street is a little spooky. I know what you mean about the whirlwind of expectation, anticipation, and emptiness. These are my observations about bustling streets and crowded subways, in any city, I suppose. Thanks for the interesting reading!

I would visit NY for Strawberry Fields (Lennon memorial)
