Yeah, you often see them. That's a "Tsukubai". It's basically a washbasin at the entrance of holy places to purify yourself by washing your hands and mouth. To be honest it is used as more of an ornament here, but you often see them in temple gardens and for guests who are attending a tea ceremony.
In movie scenes I see those along with the sound of some sort of insect. Not sure if it is some sort of bird or insect but has a very distinct sound. Any way thanks for the info. Cheers!
Maybe a cricket? But if it's Japan specifically I would say it's a Cicada. They are only heard in the summer though. You could youtube it and see if that's the right one :)
Yes that is the one the Cicada! I find the sound of it relaxing.
