Last Day in Copenhagen

Danske Statsbaner Graffiti marks a DSB train, even in tidy Denmark

Runes, Bikes, Tivoli, and Architecture

My last post in Copenhagen features a variety of shots that didn't fit in my earlier posts. A few of these images peel back the carefully groomed veneer of Danish sensibilities, including the graffiti covered train above, and a snarl of parked bikes later on. Scroll on for a final taste of Viking history as well as architecture, both ultra modern, and Victorian. In my next post, I'll take you outside of the capitol to a marvelous art museum named for an American state!

Nationalmuseet Viking Runestones The Tirsted Runestone, made in memory of a Viking who died in Sweden, at the Danish National Museum.

Bike parking in CopenhagenRelatively orderly multi-level bike parking at the train station

Bike pollution Copenhagen bike pollution - A side effect of the wonderful bicycle culture is that parking often gets out of control

Tivoli pagoda The pagoda theater in the famous Tivoli Gardens

Tivoli dogfight A fighter plane soars above Tivoli Gardens, in the center of Copenhagen

NyKredit
The Nykredit headquarters building, known as the Crystal (Krystallen) where I was treated to lunch by a friend of my sister

Copenhagen Circus This circular building, completed in 1886, was a venue for circus performances and now hosts music and variety shows!

I read about the varnishing bridge where a section of the bridge disppears under water. It leads from Copenhegan to a neighbouring country, did you get to see it?

I saw it from the city and again from the air when I flew out. You can see it in the distance in this post. Amazing design!

Haha. I hope you liked the buildings from different centuries!
