Davao Trip: Getting to Samal Island with my family

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

We had a one week vacation in Davao City and for our second day, we decided to go to Samal Island. Samal is a 2nd class city in the province of Davao del Norte, Philippines. Its official name is the Island Garden City of Samal. It is located 2 kilometers away from Davao City.

Since my mother and father really want to have a quick bath on a beach, I suggested Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort since this resort will always be the most convenient resort you can visit in Samal. We decided to go there very early in the morning so that we can still reach the high tide. Because if we will go there in the afternoon we will not enjoy the water anymore. I already knew this because I've been there twice.

This photo was taken during my first visit in the island.

The travel time from the place we stayed to Samal Island is about 1 hour. And we headed 5:30 in the morning. Every one of us is still very sleepy except my mother and father. After a one hour travel, we arrived at the port going to Paradise Island.

As you can see my face is like a newly rise from the bed. Well, honestly I'm still very sleepy and still manage to smile. The port here has boat trips from 5 am to 5 pm. Going to the island, we still have to wait for about 20 minutes to arrive.

We are now ready to go and my father and mother are really excited. They always insist to give them a good picture. But, the wind is not cooperating. By the way, near Samal Island is an open sea that's why it is very windy.

When we arrived at the island, we were welcomed by this group of people singing a joyful instrumental song. You will really feel like you are a VIP because there were entertainers.

Upon reaching the resort, we were required to pay P200 (around $5) for the entrance fee. Then one usher came over to inform us that if we had brought some foods with us, then we needed to occupy one long table at a place reserved for the locals. In the resort, you will find a roofed and an open-air restaurant by the beach made of bamboos.

We first took a family picture before swimming.

My mother did really enjoy the beach even if she doesn't know how to swim (hahaha). She just really love beaches. The other guy, by the way, is my uncle.

All in all, we really had fun and the most important thing is the bond we share with my mama, papa and my siblings. And also thanks to my brother who always took care of the expenses. You never failed to make our parents happy and us.

Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort is a place worth visiting.
Try to visit the place! :)
