Once Upon A Time in Latin America (10) Santiago: Cramped Neruda
After mountain patroling, I went to the house of Neruda, the Nobel laureate. His novel "The Postman" was translated into more than 30 languages and spread to all countries in the world. The film of the same name won the 1996 Oscar Academy Award. Neruda had three themes in his life: love, poetry, and revolution. His love was integrated with his love poems, while chanting the Spanish Civil War, the Chilean people's struggle, the Soviet Patriotic War, Latin America's struggle for national independence and so on. Neruda interpreted all three themes to the fullest. In 1973, a military coup occurred in Pinochet, Chile. The dictator murdered then Communist President and Neruda.
The road to the house of Neruda was more and more lonely, with graffiti on both sides. This was also a kind of art. Did I need to go to Vallesoto? That was a seaside city full of colors.
A ticket for Neruda's former residence was 7000 pesos, and there offered earphones for the explanation. There was full of various art collections In Neruda's house, which fully reflected his preference for color, fascination to woman, and inner loneliness. I took some photos as a souvenir.
It was getting dark and the place was remote that I always worried about safety issues. I hurried back to the city, looking forward to eating the only dinner in the lively city for a day before night fell.
It was after 4:00 PM, after walking up and down the mountain at a speed of 10 to 20 kilometers, and long-term recuperation, when I stepped over a small street, my legs were cramped. The pretty girl was chanting customers in a restaurant across the street, and she danced right away when the music was on. The South Americans were so enthusiastic. I thought it might be a good idea to take a break and eat at the same time then crossed the street to the restaurant. However, pulling the menu up and down, I could not find something fit my mind. I glanced sideways and saw the sign across the street-PIZZA + drink, only 7000 pesos. This was what I wanted. Although it was not red wine, the huge 1000CC bottle of the drink also tasted good. The PIZZA was a huge two-person serving, I could not finish it but took it outside.
After two days' running, I finally pressed the pause button, drunk alone at the end of the world. Looking at the bustling Chileans outside, strong loneliness burst out from my heart. "Contemplating the vastness of the universe; I can't help but weep, feeling sad and lonely." Well, bit one more to calm down.
Finally, dragged leg recovery from cramped to the hotel, I tied my head in bed. I had to get up early tomorrow to fly directly to Easter Island. The alarm clock was set at 5:00 am.
