in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Lost in a humid tropical forest, in the Macarena´s mountains, exists a magical space abundant  in beauty, the seven colors River, Named Caño Cristales, cataloged as the most beautiful river in the world by the National Geographic magazine. Born in Macarena´s mountains  hearth  and extends for a hundred kilometers to finally surrender to the Guayabero River, where it loses all its colors. Its stunning beauty is such that it seemed that gods had created this wonderful place to appreciate even more the beauty of paradise.

The river contains rock formations of more than 1200 million years which are an extension of the "Guyanese Shield" of Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana and are considered as the oldest on the planet, are also causing the stream is full of waterfalls, caves and soft rock wells that become authentic natural pools. Its waters are so crystalline that the bottom of the river can be seen with all clarity, showing an exceptional palette of colors that immediately become a delight in front of anyone's eyes  who observes it.

The legends tell that one day in one of its routes the rainbow decided to rest and poured its colors over the waters of Caño Cristales, when leaving it decided to leave part of its beauty in the tributary turning it into a spectacle of nature, some other locals They have their own history and say that this river was the favorite of the gods who enjoyed to the fullest among its crystal clear waters, however, one day and for no apparent reason this decided to escape from Eden and came to rest in the beautiful Macarena´s mountains .

Although it certainly seemed like a place out of paradise, the reason for this wonder is none other than the existence of endemic aquatic plants similar to the algae called Macarenia clavigera which grow green at first but due to their constant interaction with the sun they change colors until reaching the characteristic pink of the river, which is the most abundant color.

The river is completely fishless but it is home to thousands of birds and amphibians for which it is a fundamental part of its development.

Caño Cristales was cataloged as a world heritage site and receives thousands of tourists from all over the world every year, the most indicated months to visit this place are from June to December since it is the time of year when most of the plants have grown and varied its color, with which you can fully enjoy its beauty.

"We must leave a better world to our children but also better children to our world."
