Montenegro. Love from the first sight

The idea to visit Montenegro came to my mind spontaneously. My usband just said "Why not!". The next moment I was searching for tickets and apartments and in ten minutes the trip was booked! We decided to go there in the end of August when tourists with children vanish in the air!

The day we came there it was raining and dizzy. But the host of the apartments assured us that it would end by the end of the day. First day we just slept all day long. By the evening the weather became better and sun came across. We decided to rent a car and see as much of Montenegro as possible. Peugeot 1007 became our best friend for ten days!

It's not so interesting to describe our vacations day by day, but I'd like to write about most interesting places and trips!

Montenegro roads and Kalasin

Montenegro roads are worth writing poems. They are mountainous and narrow. Each time my husband drove my heart jumped up and down. It turned out that his heart jumped as well as he confessed afterwards.

One day we decided to go to Kolasin, one of the northern town in Montenegro. It was famous for skiing In the winter and cool weather in summer. Just to compare: when it was 30 at the sea coast there it was +15! The way there came through Morachi canyon. The curves of the road were tremendous and stunning simultaneously. Each time we turned I closed my eyes and each time the border of the road was just several steps from the slope. It took us about 4 hours to get to Kolasin from Tivat with stop in Morachi monastery. The monastery is famous for its history but the most pleasant thing about it was its location and a monastery cafe so to say where we drank refreshing tea.

The monastery is very picturesque and more picturesque were monks who were having dinner and enjoying themselves under shadow of the trees. Such a life! But we were going to Kolasin....

Kolasin turned out to be a small village that in winter is a skiing resort and in summer just village! But it was cool there especially at sunrise! And air there was wonderful as well. If you are tired from coast heat go to Kolasin and enjoy it's coolness.

Kotor Bay

We came there day after day in the morning and in the evening to swim and walk, by car and by bus, it called us by its coziness, calmness and sea view. My husbanb just said "Kotor!" and we understood each other witout words.

For me it was the most authentic place of Montenegro! The old town at sunrise was so marvelous and cosy that we went there in a day just to drink a cup of coffee and enjoy the calmness of the universe!

The walls of old castle were conquered by my husband one day and great photo snaps were his award!

Kotor bay is not only Kotor town but many other small villages that are located along the Kotor Bay..One of such small villages was Perast

Perast can be called Montenegro Venice. Nice white houses along sea coast make this place fantastic. We liked to come there for a lunch or a cup tea. Oh, and of course oysters - they are more than delicious there. Being in Perast one can't but visit two small islands - the island of St.George where the Abbey of St.George is located and the island of Lady on the Rock. I will not dwell upon the history of these two islands but just say that they are very picturesque and worth seeing!

Lake Skadar, or embrace of wild nature

Lake Skadar is the largest lake in Balkanina Peninsula with unique flora and fauna and we looked forward to see it. We started very early in the morning and by 8am we were there. A lot of tourist agents offered tickets to their boats but we chose individial trip and were awarded by calmness and eternity of this Lake. If you choose boat for 10 people we will be guided with the general route but in our case everthing was very uniqie. The owner of the boat brought us to the acting monastery and we got acquanted with the family of the monk, than he showed us beautifil lilies and birds that live at Skadar lake. But most of all we liked the calmness of the Lake. We felt the breath of the Earth there......

We chose Tivat for our place of living just because airport was nearby and until the last two days we didn't think that there was anything intesting there. We were greatly mistaken. There are beautiful beaches and fantastic yachts, marin museum and cozy cafes.

Just yachts....

So if you mind about vacations, just go to Montenegro and you will discover Your Montenegro.
