Everyday life in the streets of Delhi

Some first world cities have their share of slums, but they are often isolated that you'll not notice it. In Delhi, every class from poor to rich live in such close proximity that the contrasts were glaring.
Every street was littered with garbage...
...animals roam freely
...and of course, Indian traffic.
What's funny is a lot of vehicles have a "HORN PLEASE" sign since honking in India is a necessary act of caution to let other drivers know that "you are there".
Aside from non stop honk from the cars, spending hours to travel for just a few kms is not cool especially when you have a limited time.
If you are an avid traveler and looking for a different experience, I'd suggest go to Delhi at least once!

That's actually not a bad idea! I'm certain there will be some folks here you will find it useful how to use their camera, but most importantly, how to frame their shots. Thank you for a good advice :)

I always thought that the city looks a really hectic almost to the point of being chaotic. I guess that's just part of the experience going there lol.
I'm going to India at some point in my life that's for sure so Delhi is def on my list :)
Thank you sir @cryptodan. Chaotic, exhausting, whatever you call it it's all part of the adventure! lol. When you go there, try their local train. :D India is huge and diverse that every place is different weather it be food, religion, culture, etc. Delhi is just one of it but there are a lot of beautiful places in India, which I will be featuring on my next posts.

Thank you. Im not sure about the gender issues in India, but I think since rickshaw driving is a physical job it is prefered with men.
@mywanderlust, you mentioned about slums in the beginning of your blog, but the common street of Delhi is not a slum. I mean I couldn't see any correlation between slum and the street photos in the blog.
How ever personally, I felt the photos appear to be more of showing Delhi in a poor light. I have been to Delhi on more than one occasion
Of course it has its share of busy streets and traffic. After all Delhi is the capital of the second most populous country in the world. It is world's 4th most populous city. So crowd in the street is given.
Delhi has a history of over 400 years. It's been the seat of power of various kingdoms and empires since centuries, there are hundreds of monumental sites and thousands of heritage buildings here. I would have loved to see the cleaner part of Delhi along with the garbage and animals on road. It would have been a much better balanced view of Delhi to foreign eyes.

You are right. Delhi is huge. My bad that I used Delhi instead of "old" delhi. Yes there are many beautiful historical places to see in Delhi, mostly tourist spots but what I wanted to show is what you see when you go outside those sites. I try to walk and explore outside those tourist spots and see the place as a local. This place is totally different from western countries but at the same time amazing. Thank you for your comment :))

Hi @topdog, no need to apologize my friend. I appreciate any feedback weather good or bad. I can understand what you feel when you read my post since you are from India. Im not saying India is bad. I know there are a lot of beautiful places in India. I've spent months in India from my travels in Asia and I would say India is the highlight of my trip. History, food, culture and of course the people!

Fascinating place .. but not sure I'd ever have the bottle to visit
Don't get me wrong, there are lots of beautiful places in Delhi and it is rich with amazing and historical sites. Just watch where you walk!
