The No Love National Park
About 5 years ago, I took off on a 3-4 month road trip around the USA which was a big goal of mine plus I was getting tired of working for the man. I tried to hit as many national parks as I could since I never got to see any when I was a child. One park definitely stuck out more than the others and that was Big Bend National Park.
Mexico on the left, USA on the right (If this is not correct then I have been believing this for the past 5 years and I am an idiot but impressive nonetheless)
The reason this park gets no love is because the location of it. Whenever a family takes a summer national park road trip they won't be driving almost a thousand miles to some remote desert area along the border. It's a shame but the logistics suck. The drive in was possibly the loneliest feeling I have ever felt. Minus the border patrol, there was really nobody around.
I am not sure where the creator of Wile E Coyote and Roadrunner cartoon came up with the concept and setting of the cartoon but he may have visited this park beforehand. The park does not seem to be overcrowded at all and the nights make for an interesting experience since high winds are common during certain months. Sleep did not happen much during my stay. My tent had to fight for it's life. The hikes gave spectacular views along with near death since storms can roll in at any time as you can see.
That's around the moment I thought I was going to get scorched by lightning
The scenery is amazing and it is a shame this place does not get more visitors than it does. I may be a bit bias since this was my first real national park but hopefully the pictures do it justice. Hopefully a big ass wall won't be running through it one day.
@therealwolf 's created platform smartsteem scammed my post this morning (mothersday) that was supposed to be for an Abused Childrens Charity. Dude literally stole from abused children that don't have mothers ... on mothersday.
