Reminiscing about Guatemala, Part 3

Volcano Hiking-Acatenango and Fuego

)

Money Shot!

During my stay in Guatemala, volcano hiking was high on the list. My body said no but my mind knew better. There are plenty of hikes to do around the country but the most accessible is probably Acatenango and Fuego. They are right outside Antigua and currently high on people's list due to their activity. You can hike both but Fuego is the active one so my pansy ass did not want to step foot on it. When I say active, I mean eruptions every 20 mins active(mostly small).

You can do an overnight but you have to carry your entire bag and equipment so again my bitch ass chose the day trek. You would think hiking for 8 hours straight would be murder but you only have to carry a small day pack so it technically was easier. It definitely looked easier when we passed the over-nighters. The pros for the overnight is you get to see and hear Fuego erupt all night. If I would rate the day trek, it would be moderate as long as you take your time but can be downright cruel as you can see below..

My agility is questionable at best

It is definitely a tiring trek but worthwhile on so many levels. Only cost about $60-$70 I believe but I am sure you can get it cheaper while you are down there. If you ever visit Guatemala be sure to check it out because the experience and views can't be beat.
