Santa Rosa City of Laguna Museum (Philippines)
What else you need to know regards my Hometown City, The well know Lion City of Southern Tagalog. Santa Rosa City is also a Historical Place that remind us wayback Spanish Era. People living here is simple and friendly. If you are seeking for more knowledge and history about the Santa Rosa City the Museum is the best spot to reminisce and feed your mind with history.
The Museum is located at P. Gomez Street, Barangay Kanluran, Santa Rosa, Laguna, in the side corner nearby the Plaza town and Santa Rosa De Lima Church.
The museum was established to honor the rich history of the City and to commemorate the heroic deeds of Santa Rosa heroes. The museum is the home of the culture and tradition of the (Rosanian) people of Santa Rosa, Laguna.
The infrastructure of Santa Rosa Museum was built on the year 1828 during the Spanish era as a Municipal Office and it was renovated year 1954. Now, the building served as the museum of the city and became the home of important and heritage items, artifact and arts and documents relevant to the history, culture and people considered as a hero of the Santa Rosa City.
So let’s go and look what’s inside. Let me tour you based on my experience but of course I probably recommend you to visit and experience touring yourself in actual.
On the Entrance you will notice that the building has actually a touch of old Spanish structures. And from ground floor it already shows this city is enriched of stories and old historical figures that remind so much about past time. When the museum was renovated, the ceilings were created just like how the Spanish houses in the Philippines were made. The walls, from colors, to the wooden floor and the furniture are obviously really old!
The ground floor was actually served as the office of people who work in museum and the other division is for livelihood space where they conduct seminars. Going up to second floor is a main place where you can see a lot of paraphernalia, memorabilia, artifacts, preserve photos, artwork, trade materials and some historical documents.
It is really mesmerizing to see and witness these things as evidence from the past. You will realize how really far what exactly the life, culture, infrastructure change and way of living from the ancient times until the present.
You will see the antique jars, manual kitchen equipment like mortar and pestle, porcelain plates and bowl, native pot, old chairs and tables that show how it was inspired and arranges according to Spanish times living room set up. You will see also some photos in every frame hanging on the walls showing few portraits, photos of Ms. Maria Carpena (A zarzuela singer born in Santa Rosa and pure Rosanian) and old structure photo of Santa Rosa Arc as a landmark and few photos of certain places showing the heritage town.
You really feel the presence of primordial existence many years ago. It’s like you make your own time machine in this journey while enjoying learning around every single piece that remind you about history.
I ‘am truly so proud of our heritage, appreciate the historic past and inspire with these amazing things that spoke a thousand stories about old life. It is really an eye and mind opener that every object that we see, touch and feel in a museum tells us a story as a people, as a community, as a nation.
