Jericho, or the so-called "City of the Moon" is one of the oldest and historic Palestinian cities, located on the northern side of the Dead Sea, near the Jordan River, and is one of the oldest cities of history; dating back to the year (10,000) prehistory. The population of the city is approximately (18.110) people according to the estimated year (2007).

Between 1948 and 1967, Jericho was under Jordanian administration. Between 1968-1993, it was under Israeli administration and in 1994 it became under the administration of the Palestinian Authority.

The most famous tourist places in Jericho
Tel el-Sultan: The ancient Jericho, located two kilometers from the current Jericho in the north-west direction, in this hill were discovered some settlements dating back to (9000) year BC, and has the oldest staircase and tower defense world, in addition to many structures It is considered one of the first fortified cities in history, and the last civilization settled by is Byzantium and Islamic.
Mount Qarnat: Many monasteries and churches are located on the mountain during Byzantine and Greek times. These include the monastery of Qarnal on the slope of the mountain to the east, the fortified Roman monastery, the monastery of St. John, as well as several caves, estimated at approximately 40 caves.
Latin Monastery: This monastery was built by the Franciscans in 1925. It also houses the Church of the Shepherd Salih, which contains decorative windows, the statue of the Virgin and Jesus, a fan and oil paintings.
Sugar mills: Located between Jabal Qornat and Tal al-Sultan. This region is famous for sugar cane since ancient times. The Crusaders built these mills to produce sugar and export it to European countries. The remains of its remains are still like water channels, mills and factories.
The city of Naran: It is an ancient Byzantine city located northwest of the city of Jericho (4) kilometers, and nearby the spring of Ein Daiok spring and Ain Nuweima, and there is a Jewish temple dating back to the sixth century AD.
Tlul Abu al-'Alayq: It is a number of low hills on Wadi Qulat, south of Jericho, where some finds dating back to the Bronze Age (4500 BC), as well as remnants of the Roman and Hellenistic periods were found.
Hisham Palace: Located in a desert area north of Jericho (5) kilometers. It was built between 724-743 AD by the Caliph Hisham ibn Abd al-Malik during the rule of the region by the Umayyad dynasty. The palace consists of several buildings, mosques, bathtubs, and columns filled with columns. The palace also features decorations, old ornaments and mosaics that cover the floors.
The Shrine of the Prophet Moses was built in 1269 during the reign of Sultan Al-Zaher Baybars. It consists of a mosque, rooms, a lighthouse and three floors with domes. It consists of 120 rooms and a hall. The shrine was built of flammable red stones, which increased its holiness and sanctity
