There are a lot of things we can find in Barangay Poblacion such as historical church, historical buildings, and other tourist magnets building like resorts and restaurants. These iconic buildings have been visited by tourists and the locals and are generating to Cordova’s income. At this rate Cordova is growing fast due to the contribution of the remnants of the past. Also this buildings, represents the story of Cordova from revolution to present day. On the next page we will witness this Poblacion’s iconic buildings, on the way how they contribute to Cordova’s income and preserving the pain in the past and also the stories that we are going to hear from the people.
Before we start let’s reminisce the past where the parish was built. My source – my mother, she told me her experience with this Parish and it was surprisingly amazing. She says “Going every Sunday in this Parish was worth it, since it was near in our home Barangay, the Barangay Ibabao”. After that she got a little bit sentimental due to the memories they share with her father while he is still alive. And that’s why she says to us it was worth it because they just walk and besides with that she and her father (Doming) is enjoying in every moment they walk together even they know it’s too far but as what she said it is worth it. Okay! Okay! Let’s stop being emotional and let’s tackle the past. According to the archives that I have read from the secretary of Poblacion, this parish was influenced by the Moorish style with the dominant style of arches in the upper portrico. They used Egyptian Palm leaf capita for the columns with a circular shape arcade is relieved by a quatre foil opening. On October 8, 1864 the diocesan was implemented a rule to make the town independent alongside with an approval from the royals on May 22, 1863 by which the barrios of Dayat, Gabi, and Pilipul (now Pilipog) were merge as visitas of Opon. The recollect father seems to have an administration with the Parish in the town. And then I asked again my mother (Ayenda Jimenez), “Why you prefer San Roque Parish?” It is very simple! As what I have said earlier, it’s nearer to our Barangay, and also we cannot afford tricycle nor to go to Opon because my parents were not able to find a decent job”. She said, then I realized on how people (the Cordovanhons) are thriving to go there in the name of Faith. Well we can’t deny this fact as our country is a religious one. Okay back to the topic. Way back 1866, Cordova has reached a population of 3,440 citizens. Then more years have come, the population has reached 5,306 by the year 1896 and increased more in 1990 with the population of 22,331. The original building of this church was destroyed by the natural calamities like typhoon that struck the island in November 23,1877. The present building was built by a father named Fr. Jose Baltazar they built it with mortar and pebbles and tabigue of pampango wood or wooden barigues. Of course! Not just Fr. Baltazar built it but with the help of the locals and it was in the year of 1896. The measurement of this uses a traditional way called brazes. The building measures 3.5 brazes or 25.5 long and 7 brazes wide (5.90 wide) and 5 brazes high (0.5 high). So that how it started – the church and the sentimental stories pasted to this Cordova’s landmark.

Another iconic wonder of Poblacion is their Water Storage that was built in December 12, 1922 to February 8, 1923. It is a crucial facility in the municipality because of its ability to store water – a clean drinking water. It is intended to be used by the locals in municipality.

Freedom Park
The History of the Cordova Freedom Park plaza is plainly a resting and strolling plaza but to a true -blooded Cordovanhon, the plaza stands as a using witness to the heroic deeds of two Cordovanhon's heroes:Juan nuñez and Pablo Biongcog who where shot to death at the plaza for admitting as being the source of the Katipunan Cedulas.
Poblacion People maintains Freedom Park clean and maintain its Historical Heritage as a witness to the heroic deeds of two Cordovanhon Heroes.Freedom Park is seen in front of Cordova church. It is also bring as a family bonding with each other.

MUNICIPAL BUILDING
Municipal building with a refernce no. of BH 05-2012-04-17 and was located at Poblacion Cordova Cebu. The seat of the political government of Cordova was established in 1946 until 2007. It was the site of social, cultural gathering and of the town people of municipality of Cordova. More over, this building was used to be the municipality Hall and it is declared as the site of the Municipal Museum by the virtue of the Sangguniang Bayan Resolution no. 081-11-08 entitle " Declaring the old Municipal Building as the official Museum of the municipality of Cordova" dated August 27, 1898. And recorded by Glenzen Clint N. Quinaging and Roy Anthony Menguito.

Rizal Monument with a reference no. of BH 13- 2010-01-09 and it is located at Poblacion Cordova Cebu. The History of Rizal Monument: it was constructed in1930. There 3 people who are responsible for the construction of the monument, these are V. Pacaldo, the President, P. Macan the V.President and the counselors: O.Cañete, M. Potot, C. Biongcog, G. Bentulan and O. Baguio. And this monument was donated by Solomon in 1930 and recorded by the SK Officials. At the Rizal's Monument, it was stated there from the Noli-MeTangere the "Kapanilandan sa Lungsod sa Cordova" the monument of Rizal, stated that Dr. Jose P. Rizal was build on 1930 under the power of Victorio Pacaldo which is the mayor of the city. This was became the living symbol of the best friends Magpapatigayon Solon and Mayor Pacaldo because of they cared and preserve the monument. This monument was the living symbolism as the deeds of Rizal to the community for committing the freedom of the Filipino from the cruelty of Spaniards. This monument is where the poblacion people gathered for the celebration of the death of our hero during December 30 every year. This monument of Rizal was known as one of the Built Heritage of the city of Cordova with the use of the resolution number 055-11-03 adopting and declaring the ten most important and significant cultural heritage of the municipality.
Cordova Central School
During American era, Cordova Central School was established and was considered to be a Gabaldon Building structure. In 1942-1945, this school was used to be a prison hall by the Japanese during war of Filipino-American Japanese. The municipality of Cordova has 13 barangays, and this school served as the center of education. Cordova Central School was Located in Poblacion, Cordova Cebu. Most Students in Cordova are studying in here.

Cordova Sports Complex
Cordova Sports Complex was known as one of the most iconic place for big events. This Complex located at Poblacion, Cordova Cebu. Many of the events was held in this place due to its wide and accessible place for everyone. Some example of this events are Dinagat Festival dance contest, together with Aegis Concert and it is also a main venue for School Promenades and also it is an Evacuation Center for Calamities.
Poblacion,Cordova is indeed a nice place to visit many ideal things you could do in just one barangay like this one. I hope this place would be preserved as it is a resemblance of the growing municipality – the Cordova.
