Barangay Gabi is one of the original barrio of the Municipality of Cordova (Cordoba during the Spanish time) together with barangay Day-as and Pilipul (Pilipog today) on May 22, 1863 located at the southern tip of Mactan Islands. This barangay have a total lot area of 113.9 hectares, 3,958 population, 862 household, 1,976 male, 1,982 female, and 220 senior citizen as of 2015.

Daghan kay ni file, ni kuan, unsay ngan aning lungsoda, ana-ana, taas kaayong history. Niaabot ang panahon nga, natultulan nga ang ipangan sa tulo ka barangay sa Lapu-Lapu, opong niadto, opong pana, dili pana lapu-lapu, Cordoba, gisunod sa Cordoba Espanya, nga gi aprobahan pud sa Gobernardor- heneral sa mga Espanyol." (Barangay Gabi was one of the barangay of Lapu-Lapu City, including barangay Day-as and barangay Pilipul currently known as Pilipog, as the years passed, many Cordovanhons became knowledgeable, here in barangay Gabi who went to school and became educated, whom they filed some lawful cases, that barangay Gabi, Day-as, and Pilipog, should become a town. Many people filed some cases towards what would be the name of this town. Fortunately, as the time went through, it was being distinguished that the name of the three barangay of Lapu-Lapu as Opong before, would be Cordoba, whereas it was being copied by Cordoba España that was proven by Governor- general of the Spaniards.)

(“…from the past years, in accordance of ancient elders, barangay Gabi was named because there are many plants belonged in root crop which is the colocasia esculenta plant, it has a huge leaves, even our treasurer also have this kind of plant, unfortunately, it slowly fades due to the current changes, limited, and it was being bet by a maguey plant, but still there lots of colocasia esculenta plant compared to maguey plant, due to the reason that maguey plant cannot be eaten than Gabi plant that would be eaten and serves as utan in vernacular or ingredients for vegetable soup)

Our mode of living, usually people who live here has its employee no. 1, they have a job but not all, they believe that that barangay Gabi is rich but not that rich, whereas there way of mode of living is countable, several are employed in industrial company, malls, in MEPZA, there are professionals also, there are pedicab driver, tricycle driver, it really depends on the mode of living, not necessarily we don't have this kind of minimum wage laborer just because that we have an educated fellowmen.")

  • They have a complete technology, and complete materials good for civil engineering and other courses.
  • They will offer the basic education, senior high, and college for those students who would like to study here thus today they have 40 senior high school students only.

  • Owned by Government and was established on June, 2005.
  • It was established due to the promise of the former mayor of Cordova name Arleigh B. Sitoy.
  • Their specialized 4 years courses are education (general and secondary), IT, and HRM whereas their estimated student population is 1,600 for overall.

Every moments and everyday is a blessing, where God made this world for a purpose and it is all about our matter of beliefs. Due to the Spaniards colonization, Barangay Gabi was discovered, you'll only knew the importance of this if you're going to unlock the hidden history of Gabi and how it is now, and that it's slowly developing. As we've made this expedition, we often encounter many Korean tourists, some tourist spots are highly influenced by a Korean culture. Mostly, we encounter Colocasia Esculenta Plant (Gabi Plant) a root crop type. Barangay Gabi dominated to be one of the best place. They have a beautiful places like Happyworld Museum which they have several employees that are hospitable and friendly that you will encounter. Resorts & Spa which they serves good services and good ambiance and mostly visited by Koreans, private schools which they really secures their students safety, and a public schools donated by a loyal public servant. Ancient heritages that really cared by its owner, and it’s brings legacy to their child. Subdivisions established for a purpose of harmonious living with a beautiful infrastructures and we can't deny the fact that we Filipinos are friendly and open-minded to other nation. In Barangay Gabi you will discover more than you could, there are more things about Barangay Gabi that we haven't yet discover because it takes a lot of money, so if you're willing to visit just be patient, kind, and be happy with various kind of people who live there. You will have so much fun and unforgettable experiences.
