Weekend Trip: Prague
I ended up going to the Czech Republic on a whim last weekend. I was planning on going to Milan because it was fashion week but decided last minute to go to Prague with some friends who were going for their birthday weekend. I had never thought about going to Prague before, but after looking up a couple photos I knew I had to go, and it was absolutely beautiful. Every inch looked straight out of a fairy tale. I fell in love with the architecture, all the buildings have beautiful, intricate detail and are painted in bright colors, a river runs through the city cut up by old, beautiful bridges, and a gorgeous castle sits on top of a hill towering over the beautiful rooftops of the old-town. I do wish that it wasn't so bitterly cold so that we could have enjoyed our time outside a little more, but at least the 20°F temperatures came with clear blue skies.
We stayed in a great Airbnb right next to the “Dancing House” building in Praha 2 and it was the perfect location. We easily could have walked to everything but it was just way too cold so we did uber quite a bit (but Uber was really cheap there and each ride ended up costing about $6). The Prague Castle was stunning, but make sure if you go that you don't leave it for the end of the day because it closes at 4:00pm. The views from the little town on top are amazing and worth spending plenty of time up there.
Something we weren't aware of before getting there was that it is really difficult to get a table at most restaurants without a reservation. We weren't able to eat at a lot of the places we were planning to go to because we weren't even able to make a reservation for that night. The Lemon Leaf had amazing Thai food and The Grand Orient Cafe and a little place called Gourmet Pauza were really great for brunch.
I definitely can’t wait to go back to Prague one day when the weather is warmer.
