Monterey Photography Adventures Part 1: Cannery Row
Many people think of John Steinbeck when they imagine Monterey.
Steinbeck actually lived in Salinas and Pacific Grove (Monterey itself only very briefly) but he immortalized the city through his novels Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat and East of Eden.
It should be apparent to all that Monterey is very scenic. Situated along the coast 118 miles south of San Francisco, Monterey boasts a rather impressive turquoise blue water, plenty of seafood joints and an immensely popular aquarium.

Thinking of packing up and moving here? There might be one obstacle; the fact that the median home value in Monterey is $736,900, up 9.1% compared to a year ago.
It should come at no surprise that a city along the Pacific Ocean with a history of literary significance would cost an arm and a leg to live in.
One Day
Maybe one day this sad seagull can afford to purchase a home there.

Monterey is beautiful. I've been there only once on a business trip, loved it. Vowed to come back driving up Highway 101, but haven't had a chance yet. But I will do so one day...
Agreed! I strongly suggest doing the scenic 17 mile drive, it definitely earns the name :)
It's great out here
